He left UK without a word to anyone, not even his boss. He didn't tell the players or talk to them when he left. I believe he did the same thing to TT.

There is a lot about Tubby that the media wont touch. He gets the benefit of the doubt over and over, and the bad parts left unsaid.

If Tubby sees an end to his time in Memphis coming he wont adapt or work to fix anything, he will work on finding his next victim.

I'm a UK fan but hope Memphis does well in conference. Don't give him longer believing it will turn around. Even if it does it's fools gold, he wont sustain it.

I lived in Madisonville,KY during the Kentucky Tubby years.
Cat fans were pretty down on Tubby. His nickname in public at that time was "ten loss Tubby"
Didn't remember the staff change exchange with the school...but that probably didn't make his job any easier...and his Houdini act actually opened up Cat fans for the glorious Billy G years LOL

Yep, good ole 10 loss tubs.

He had a good run at UK (not fantastic), 5 sec titles, 5 Elite eights, title with Ricks players. We were all ready for him to go, probably 3 years prior. It didn't help that he was chose over Billy Donovan then Donovan blows up.

Mitch Barnhart is responsible for Billy G, and he is no longer in charge of basketball for that and for trying to evade the Cal hire. He's a hatchet man, cant stand him.

But hey, UK and Memphis are connected forever now. Almost like we're the same program. May Penny come on board and the relationship continue...04-bow04-high5
I don't know how old you are but do you remember when Billy brought his #1 team to Lexington? Your team killed that Florida team. Billy was in tears on the sideline. He only had two good years at UF. You guys had 10.

I don’t think there’s any Tiger fan hoping Penny goes to help Cal with Wiseman and other recruits. Penny wants to be the coach at Memphis. You guys will do fine without Penny and Wiseman.

IF Tubby goes behind the fanbase's back and lands another job like you say there will be hell to pay. Our fans will be OUTRAGED.

Our fans will be dancing in the streets.

At first.

Then a certain group will step up and make claims and then a large part of the city will go from dancing in the street to marching in the streets.

Ok, thanks. I thought so. Just didn’t know the school.

I wonder if he’s doing it again? I would think so.

If he did without asking permission from AD and it could be proven. Would that then not be cause and we could fire him without owing him a dime?

If Penny became our coach tomorrow, Wiseman is still going to KY. They will pay him more and there is still less risk for a one year player.

At least it would prove that he is doing some sort of recruiting.

You guys still follow him with your negative posts wherever he goes? Many UK fans call Tubby years as good old days. Are you mad because of his accomplishments? He took you guys to the dance every single year that he coached your team. After he left, BCG took over and took your program to the ground. Then, you got Cal as the best coach in the world. You pay him about 10-20 million dollars a year to streamline players to NBA. Are you mad because you guys got kicked out on NIT with all of your 5* players in the 1st round? Are you mad because you may not make the dance this year again with your 5* players? I am not sure why you are so mad?????? Players who played during Tubby's era call themselves Cats. How many of the Cal's players ever call themselves a Cat? Show some class and acknowledge the guy who brought so much fun to your program. There was some down times but he always took you to the dance something that you will be watching on TV this year with all of your 5* players who will be packing their bags for NBA.

Go back to ath armpit of college basketball. You are full of s***>

Maybe you’re right. That said, that is not what I’m hearing.
Then you shouldn't be listening to those people. They are steering you wrong. I would want him in particular more than any other player being mentioned. Even Wiseman himself would say he would consider following Penny out of respect but in the end he goes to the NBA builder Cal. Additionally, how much scrutiny do you think the program will be under if he follows Penny here. The high school heat is nothing compared to the "anything to get you" NCAA scrutiny that will follow at Memphis.

Wiseman ain’t coming here. All moot because Penny won’t be the coach at Memphis next year anyway. The job might be open in 2019 though...

I don’t think there’s any Tiger fan hoping Penny goes to help Cal with Wiseman and other recruits. Penny wants to be the coach at Memphis. You guys will do fine without Penny and Wiseman.
If Penny became our coach tomorrow, Wiseman is still going to KY. They will pay him more and there is still less risk for a one year player.

You’re dead wrong about me listening to the wrong people. In my case, I’m listening to one person. I’ll leave it at that. No shot at you but I don’t know you. But I do know the individual I get a little bit of info here and there. I trust the guy. He’s close enough to the situation that I’m going to go with him. No offense to you of course.

Oh, and by no means am I guaranteeing we get wiseman. My limited conversation with said person never goes into “guarantees”. Maybe it will later. Who knows? I’m just saying I don’t know you guys, but I do know my guy.

Why would he come here instead of Kentucky? I’m just talking about Cal’s NBA prep program. That and playing on primetime TV (not ESPN 3 or CSS) in front of thousands of fans.

Penny’s a great guy, but business is business.

Because he is good enough that no matter where he goes he will be going to the NBA, also he maybe will be the go to guy here, maybe he has family that can see him play more by being here.. Now if Tubby is still here you can throw all that out the window!!

It’s all Tubby’s fault!

Penny will not be a coach anywhere but he would consider Memphis first if that what he wanted to do. This is predicated on him not changing his mind 100% about what he wants in life NOW. To say he would be a KY assistant under Cal or a Memphis assistant under Tubby is laughable. He knows them the wrong way for that to happen unless it’s a one year WRITTEN (no coach will ever take a verbal from Bowen again) deal at Memphis where he takes over at the end of the season. I doubt he would do that.
