Would have much rather seen Keating up there than Keys.

Keys struggled all weekend at the plate, so it makes perfect sense to pinch hit him there. /s

I know it's a long season, but this is one we should have won. We just blew it, period. If our pitching doesn't improve, we won't be anywhere near good enough to host another regional.

Not worried. We’ll score 30+ runs in Nacogdoches this weekend to get back on track. Losing by 1 to a top 20 team in a midweek game isn’t a big deal at all.

South Alabama has one of the best offenses in the country. Told y’all before the year that I thought they had a host caliber team. If we pitch like that this weekend then I’ll worry.

I understand that, but their offense isn't what won them this game. Our inability to hit the strike zone killed us. For the life of me, I don't understand what it is with us recruiting pitchers year after year who can't hit the strike zone. This has been going on for so long that I have to wonder how these players make D1 rosters. If it was their first time to play in college, that's one thing. But we've got some players who've played multiple years and still can't throw a strike, even when there's literally zero pressure. And that's mental.

Don’t agree that we should have won this one, at all.

Aside from the solo homers, they served up most of our runs to us—walked in three runs with two outs and allowed two more on a two-out error. We went 2-for-12 with runners in scoring position.

And Beagle is right. This is the best lineup we will face all season—plus our pitchers couldn’t find the plate.

If this becomes a pattern in terms of not hitting with runners in scoring position and not finding the plate, I’m worried. Not tonight, though.

Just a bad weekday game on both sides.

We haven’t hit well—especially with runners in scoring position.

The difference is walks and errors. Oh, we are doing those things...but we aren’t walking runs in with the bases loaded and we aren’t committing errors with runners in scoring position.

That’s a low bar but a win is a win in midweek baseball. I would take it.

Also, Montenegro needs to hit lead off.

Agreed. I would like to see Gabe in leadoff and slide Guidry to 2hole. Put Irby down in the lineup and take some pressure off of him. He's in an early slump obviously.

I wasn't in attendance, just watching the feed.

3,472 seems like a stretch in the attendance.

Whether we earned it or not, we had an 8-3 lead and imploded. We should win with a lead like that. Period.

I agree would should not have one either but we gave them a hell of a lot too.

8 BB
2 HBP
2 E (one of which led to runs after)

5 Jags Reached on Fielder's Choice
16 Jags LOB

2 Out hitting:
USM: .167
USA: .333

RISP:
USM: .125
USA: .353

VERY sloppy game on both sides. Need to learn from it, put it behind us, and move forward.

No doubt.

No one deserved it. They should have turned the lights off in the sixth after 3+ hours and told both teams that they should go home and think about what they’ve done.
