Bill Gates Says He Wants To Pay 'Significantly Higher' Taxes
https://www.mrctv.org/blog/bill-gates-sa...gher-taxes
Quote:Billionaire Bill Gates told CNN’s Fareed Zakaria on Sunday that he and others who make insanely high amounts of money should be paying “significantly higher taxes” than they currently are.
"I need to pay higher taxes," Gates said. "I've paid more taxes, over $10 billion, than anyone else, but the government should require the people in my position to pay significantly higher taxes.”
Gates added that the GOP’s latest tax bill – which paved the way for millions of Americans to receive higher wages, better benefits and one-time cash bonuses, while also allowing companies to create more jobs in the U.S. – was a “regressive” tax bill that left bazillionaires like him with too much of their own money.
Quote:Interestingly, Gates did not mention any plans to donate to the IRS or voluntarily cut a check to the U.S. Treasury to help reduce the U.S. debt

So I guess it's safe to assume he doesn't claim any deductions, credits, etc.?

Schit,
Wasn’t it his BFF Buffet that was bragging about paying a lower comparative rate than his own secretary?
Belly up, Bill!
Cut that check, b*tch!

Yup, just write the check, asswipe. Be a leader. Show others how it's done. Don't whine that the government should tax others just because you're feeling guilty.

Now ask him if "the gates foundation" should be paying higher taxes.... The "super rich" don't deal with income the way you or I do..

Even the libs should see through this BS. He can pay all he wants. The super rich liberals are suffering affluenza. If I had been as successful as Gates I wouldn’t need his life style and THOUSANDS more children would be treated at St Jude’s for nothing. He’s pathetic.

RE: Bill Gates Says He Wants To Pay 'Significantly Higher' Taxes
I can guarantee Bill Gates and those at his level DON'T pay taxes.
Of course on paper they pay tremendous taxes, but his army of lawyers and CPAs make sure that he probably gets all that money back in spades from the government.
Who do you think is Microsoft's biggest custom?
The US Fed Gov of course.
Microsoft (and yes, he's still very much in charge of Microsoft from his "retirement") could live comfortably as a company for the rest of time if their only custom was the Fed Gov alone.
He has no skin in the game if income taxes go up, because he gets paid more when they do. If anything he loses money when taxes go down because his biggest customer is giving that money back to the taxpayers and not him.

RE: Bill Gates Says He Wants To Pay 'Significantly Higher' Taxes
Bill Gates doesn't want to pay significantly higher taxes, and would not do so if the kinds of tax laws he advocates were enacted. What he wants is for OTHER PEOPLE who cannot shelter as much of their income, because they need it to live on, to pay higher taxes. Bill Gates is a member at Augusta National. So is Warren Buffet. They won't ever be taxed enough to have to give up those memberships. But what they hope is that higher taxes will be able to keep riff raff from accumulating enough wealth to be considered to join them. They don't want any Rodney Dangerfields at Augusta National.

Bill is free to pay all the extra taxes he desires. Has he done so?

Then he need do nothing more than send in the extra money he feels he should be paying to US Treasury. The US Treasury accepts donations. Why do I suspect both he and Microsoft will continue to employ an army of accountants who's job it is to minimize the Gates tax bill every year?

RE: Bill Gates Says He Wants To Pay 'Significantly Higher' Taxes
He can be my guest. He can pay 100% in taxes for all I care. But even as rich as he is, he has absolutely zero say in how much other people pay in taxes. Liberals are always so obsessed with what people do with their hard earned money.

Plus, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is a great way to shelter $30 billion.
