Right. He got ejected for his 5th foul.

Both teams seemed to be jawing at each other all night and the refs didn't do anything then. To make an example at that point of the game is why people hate referees.

Yes technically he wasn't ejected, he was given a technical which was his 5th foul. But I think the difference between Randy's and BJ's was that BJ initiated it and got in the guys face. Randy just tried to walk back down the court and was bumped and jawed at. He jawed back but while still walking away. I don't know what he said which may have been significant enough for a tech. But short of that I think he was the victim here. Nonetheless if he had just shut up and kept walking there would have been no issue like you suggest.

Unless you know what was said i think you're splitting hairs. They were both talking though before and after the bump.

A couple of other items from that game: Elmore is an awesome player. He gets to the rim with ease it seems. That guy is a handful. But this leads me to my second thought. Give Jones credit for taking the motion offense away from Marshall after the first 10 minutes. For the first 5 or 6 minutes it looked Marshall could score anytime Elmore drove the lane by passing or scoring but Jones shut that down. We stayed in man to man but he got us straight. It was a huge adjustment or we could have been blown out. And give Haynes credit for hounding Elmore. Randy may not have shut him down but he made Elmore work for everything he got. Randy is doing the job on both ends of the court.

We are going to miss Randy mightily next year. He is everything we had hoped Talley would become.

And I still can’t believe they didn’t call a foul on the big goof when he fouled Porter with a couple mins left in the game - should have been an “and one.” Instead the ref granted Porter’s request to stop the game for him to recover after he made the shot. Never seen anything like it...I am not a fan of CUSA refs.

I thought the same thing, and don't know why the officials didn't go to watch the replay. I thought that it was standard procedure when there was evidence of someone being (significantly) hit above the shoulders. Those boxes seemed to have been checked on that play. Didn't Porter leave the game for a few minutes after that play?

Yes, Porter left the game and Penava immediately had a dunk on the other end.

And it’s funny that the crowd booed him mightily when he came back into the game. The rivalry is starting to heat up!

Apparently you boo the opposing player when your team horsecollars him and repeatedly take him down. Also, when he gets blasted and no foul is called.

It ticked me off that the announcers say that Pineva didn’t pull on his collar and therefore wasn’t that big a deal. I watched it a couple of times and think they were way off. Pineva has a chance to release the jersey and kept ahold and kept pulling from behind. If it’s egregious in football, you’d think it would be just as/if not more serious in basketball.

Peneva horse collared him plain as day. He also slapped him in the face but no foul called WTF?
Gotta say though if I'm a fan of the opposing team, I'm probably gonna hate Porter. He's good and has real attitude and lots of emotion. He's exactly who we'd all hate if he played for anyone else.

I agree. Just wish he would learn how to channel that emotion sometimes and to play smart enough to keep himself in the game. He's had a technical or two (which count against the 5 foul limit) and has had at least a couple of games where he picked up 2 fouls before the first media time out. He's a big part of the team and we need him to get his full allotment of minutes in each game, especially against the better teams.
