The G5 should reorganize regionally
UConn needs to embrace the power it has at the G5 level and together with Temple form a north eastern centric league.

North: UConn, UMass, Buffalo, Army*, UNH, Maine

South: Temple, Navy*, Deleware, Marshall, ODU, James Madison

* FB only

(URI and Vermont all sports members to off balance service academies)

USF, UCF and ECU form a south eastern conference.

North: ECU, App St, Coastal, Charolette, Ga Sothern, Ga St

South: USF, UCF, FAU, FIU, Troy, Southern Bama

Cincy and Memphis form one

North: Cincy, Memphis, WKU, Chatanooga, MTSU, Mizz St

South: UAB, S. Miss, Tulane, La Tech, Lafyette, Monroe

New SWC

East: Houston, Rice, Ark State, Sam Houston, North Texas, SMU

West: UTEP, New Mexico, UTSA, Texas St, Tulsa, Stephen F Austin

RE: The G5 should reorganize regionally
dumb as hell. Why would any AAC member agree to that as well? They've gotten 2/4 G5 slots easily, and were right there the other 2 years. And they in the 4 years have gotten 12 bids to the NCAA tourney, and will be getting 3 more this year(so 15/5 years) compared to MAC with 4 auto bids only(12,14,14,14), MWC with 7, SBC with 4(12,14,14,15), and CUSA with 4 bids(12,13,14,15) So AAC with 8 at larges compared to the other 4 C5 conferences with 3 combined- and that gap will grow to 10-3 most likely this year.

This would only make sense if the AAC were to receive a massive pay decrease when their TV deal comes up next year.

IF and I mean, IF it were to happen, you would not see Cincinnati in the league you constructed. Instead, if all money was equal within the G5, they would join the MAC where they would get more savings on travel.

Just to clarify... this isn't going to happen.

It's Delaware, with an A. It's next to the state of New Gersey.

CUSA and Sun Belt could gain by reorganizing regionally, but the rest are fine how they are.

RE: The G5 should reorganize regionally
I posted this in another thread, but I think CUSA and the SBC are the only ones that have anything to gain by reorganizing. I think the AAC would lose out by reorganizing with the SBC and CUSA.

The only way a mass reshuffle of teams were to be possible between CUSA and the SBC is if the BIG12 added 6 teams out of the AAC, and the AAC backfilled with a combination of teams from CUSA and the Sun Belt. Then spots would be open in both conferences and any outliers of each conference could decide if joining the other conference would be better for them.

Just as a hypothetical and not how I think it would actually go down:

BIG12 adds: UCF, USF, Houston, Memphis, Cincy, and Navy

AAC backfills with: UTSA, North Texas, FAU, Arkansas State, Ga State, and ODU

Remaining 10 schools in CUSA: UTEP, Rice, La Tech, USM, UAB, WKU, MT, Marshall, UNCC, FIU

Remaining 8 schools in SBC: TXST, ULM, ULL, South Alabama, Troy, Ga Southern, App, CCU

Marshall, UNCC, MT, and FIU bolt for the SBC while TXST, ULM, and ULL bolt for CUSA.

NMSU joins CUSA to make 10 teams while JMU or Liberty joins the SBC to make 10 teams. Both conferences are then pretty regional.

Again, not how I actually expect it to go down.

Why does everyone always forget the 2 non-football playing full members of the SunBelt.

What region would UConn share with any school outside of UMass, maybe Buffalo and maybe Temple? As far as non-traditional conferences go, they're on an island, not close to any school except UMass. And why should they share a conference with UMass? Because they're close?

Because it's not pertinent to a discussion on realignment based on football

Combined CUSA and SB cover 13 states. 9 of those states do not have member in both. The 4 state that have members in both.

Texas CUSA 4 SB 2
Louisiana CUSA 1 SB 2
Alabama CUSA 1 SB 2
North Carolina CUSA 1 SB 1

C-USA and the Sunbelt are the only two leagues that stand to gain from a G5 reshuffle. The rest are fine where they are. The members of the American like their status as an East of the Rockies "Best Of" Conference.

While Buffalo, UMass, and any FCS schools you'd bring up would consider a new Northeastern conference an upgrade Temple, UConn, Navy, Army, Marshall, and ODU would not.

If the AAC is hit that hard I just assumed stay in CUSA East. Because UCONN would be gone (maybe Navy too). And the TV contract would dry up. ODU's been there before. Splinter the CUSA and absorb the remaining AAC east and west accordingly.

What it would allow is the flexibility to use 3 conference shells (SB, CUSA, and AAC) to reorganize regionally. Maybe one NE conference, one SE conference, and one SW conference.

Why would anyone in the AAC want any part of any of that garbage.
