The ODU women's basketball team will finally play their last regular season game on the road against Middle Tennessee St. We are a lock for the Con USA tournament. So this game is mostly about placement. Right now with a 6-9 conference record, we are in a four way tie for 8th place.

The Blue Raiders are 17-11 (9-6). RPI is 104 and SOS is 136. The team is 8-4 at home, including a much talked win over Kentucky.

Because it's senior night, I fully expect 6'4" F Rebecca Reuter (7.3 ppg, 4.7 apg, 37.6 FG%, 35.1 3P%, 73.3 FT%) to start. Alex Johnson was first team Con USA last season and this season she is still the team's leader. Sissom, Lourd, and Jones are extreme three point shooters. The Blue Raiders have had a full week off to rest up. Maybe we will catch them when they have some rust, but probably not. They will highly motivated to win senior night.

This has been a season where we have struggled to put points on the board. Because of that we might be on the verge of some rather dubious records. For example, the ODU LM season low for Field Goal Attempts is 1637 (1990-91 season). This season we have 1507 attempts. The record for lowest FG percentage in a season is 38.3% (726-1897) for the 2011-12 team. Right now we are at 38.0% (572-1507). Fewest Field Goals in a season, 667 (1990-91). Again we are at 572 baskets.
The fewest assists in a season is 326, also the 1990-91 team. Right now we have 316. I think with one game plus a play off game that we should be able to get 10 assists.

Sadly this team may go down in history as one of the worst offensive teams in ODU women's basketball history. By this time next season, we won't be thinking of that though. Better days are a coming.....

Final score, MTSU 65, ODU 47. In the 3rd quarter, ODU cut the lead to 4 points. But a shot that went right before the buzzer got the momentum back to MTSU and they wouldn't let go in the 4th quarter. Ashley Jackson lead the team with 11 points and 6 boards. The good news, ODU had 12 assists on the game, so now it won't finish with the fewest assists by a team in ODU history.

ODU enters the conference as a 12 seed.

#12 ODU will play #5 Rice that beat us 45-53 on the road. If we beat Rice, then we will have a rematch with MTSU the next day.

The only thing that I can say is that historically teams with 22 loses are never invited to a tournament. So either we pull off an upset and win the Con USA tournament...or the first loss that we have will end our season.
