of small guards. My only worry is they can't all play 30 minutes a game. Personally our newest recruit, McCoy, looks like a back up from the start. By one service, he is only ranked as the 9th best point guard in Texas this year. Tulsa might not be in the running for the top 3 PG's but 9th is pretty well down the list. He may have that ranking because he's not a big scorer but still........!! James played against stronger competition and avg 18-19 points a game so I presume he may be a SG, No he is mainly a PG!! Our other recruit, Hanson, is a PG/SG, I presume he is a SG for sure now. McDade surely must be a SG, since he avg more than any of them, by far, in HS, No he is a PG!! Out of this group if we can find another Reed , in good times, and Swanson I will be as happy as a pig in slop. I would like to see a few players in the 6'4" to 6'7" range sooner or later, Please!!! We've proven we can get all the 5'11" and 6' players we want. It wouldn't surprise me to see a player or two transferring over the next two years, so I'm not going to get overly attached to any of them yet!!!

McCoy is 5' 11" and 150lbs who averaged 14 points and 13 assists a game as a junior. In other words, a true point guard.
I would imagine he has some quicks at that size, which is what the entire fan base was screaming for last year.
Hanson is reportedly 6' 3" at SG. Not bad. Not to mention a 5A all-stater as a junior.
So far, I'm happy with the recuiting. Time to land a PF.

I'm not that unhappy with our recruits so far and if, that maybe a big if, Baker plays the next two years, I would like to see us find the best shooters, scorers, they can find over 6'3" for the final two schollies. I agree a PF/C would be nice, but with Baker(?) for two years and Cardwell for two more years, and Davis next year, maybe that could be the main goal next year. I'm a little concerned with where our scoring comes from. Although you could be right, if you don't get the ball, rebounding, you can't score. Has anyone heard if Ramsdell is going to red shirt??? I still think he could be a good SF in the future!!!

I hope McCoy will redshirt and gain a little weight-- that'd seperate him an extra year from McDade and James. However, from what I can tell from reading about him, the guy doesn't shoot-- not because he can't, but because his teammates get open and knock down shots (hello-- 13 assists...give me 8 in a college game and I'd be MORE than happy). The kid can dunk, so he's not a stiff.

You can't always pay attention to the rankings. If you read the Rivals story, there are tons of quotes from McCoy and his coaches....those comments give you the real story. Sounds like you guys got a good one.

I never get excited about recruiting because you never know what will happen until they get on the floor in a TU uniform. Some of our most heralded recruits have been busts while the no-name recruits have become stars. Besides, these guys won't even sign an LOI for another 3 weeks.
I am excited about the guys we have though and think the future is looking bright. I'm avoiding posting over at rivals right now because I don't think I could be coherent responding to know nothing jerks like Leeroyboy.

Some of them are already hanging JP and the season hasn't even started. Their could be some red faces if Tulsa comes in 2nd or 3rd in the WAC, wins 18 games and gets a NIT invite!! If Gonzo and Davis add some decent rebounding, plus Cardwell has to improve over last year-----we could be at least average in rebounding. I know McDade is a scorer and Collins has great potential. I still think Teich is going to play a lot more than people think and be a good contributor. I could be wrong but with the schedule we have, I just can't see less than .500. So let's hurry up and get the season started, with 8 out of our first 10 games at home and one on a neutral court in Okla.------even Arkansas isn't that far obviously, we should have a good start. I'm aware we might play Arizona during that time but it isn't scheduled at this time. I have us 7-3 during that stretch!!

As you could probably figure out, Jon, I was pretty disgusted when that thread started. Honestly, I think we are looking at 20+ and a ticket to the dance. I realize I'm being optimistic, but I kind of think every year ought to start off with that as a goal. There's plenty of time for realism later, if things don't pan out.

I think they will be better by default, but I also think that unless some things have changed, they won't reach their potential. JMHO.
