I don't get it either. He certainly can't bring that big of a voting bloc with him can he?

FWIW, I only know about Elison. His district would go even farther left if it could and the Jewish faith is few and far between up here in South Canada. So between those two realities I just don't think anti-semitism is a hot political button in Minnesota.

However if you told me Elison didn't get the DNC top-dog post because of his relationship with NOI, I wouldn't be surprised.

Ellison certainly doesn't vote like a religious extremist, that's for sure.

BTW, Huffington Post is directly calling out Davis. As they should. But I fail to see how the NOI is any worse than the FRC.

Who gives a shite about the Huff Post? What about Pelosi and the CBC?

I'm really not a fan of guilt by association.

I mean, a person can be "associated" with a particular group and agree with 1% of what they say.

The political discourse is all about discourse and dialogue but if you "associate" with wrong-think you are supposed to get ******.

I really am not bothered by their "association" for associations sake. If they are on record agreeing with particularly nasty sentiments that is something different but it goes to weight not an on or off in or out.

Its the hypocrisy that bothers me. They CLOSELY with someone who openly hates Jews and call on Republicans to resign if they don't condemn someone simply because that extremist voted for them.

So I think its appropriate to start calling out the Democrats for association. If they want to play by those rules, they will have to apply the same rules to themselves. They'll have to either shut up or put up.

I suspect they will choose the 3rd option, neither, which effectively shuts them up because it exposes them for the mindless hypocrites that they are.

The Republican Jewish Coalition is calling for the resignation of seven Democratic members of Congress whom it claims are "connected" to controversial Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan. The group describes him as a "known anti-Semite."
Interested in Democratic Party?
Farrakhan has routinely spoke disparagingly about Jews over the years, as well as white people, in general. He was thrust into the mainstream spotlight again this week after excerpts from a speech he gave last week on the Nation of Islam's Saviour's Day surfaced online. During the speech, he once again described Jewish people -- who he says "are my enemy" -- in a pejorative manner.
The lobbying group on Tuesday called for the following lawmakers to step down: Reps. Keith Ellison, D-Minn.; Barbara Lee, D-Calif.; Maxine Waters, D-Calif.; Danny Davis, D-Ill.; Andre Carson, D-Ind.; Gregory Meeks, D-N.Y.; and Al Green, D-Texas.
Sucks when you play the 6 degrees of separation is enough to ruin you and it comes back to bite them on the backside.
Imagine the horror the MSM and their lefty overlords would experience there was a list of prominent Republicans who had a similar "relationship" with David Duke for example.......
LOL. Lots of people meet with Family Research Council/Tony Perkins, and yes we criticize them for doing so. Your side doesn't. Sure, I'll criticize anyone who retains ties to the NOI too.
If Ellison has to go, then so do about 100 GOP (and a couple of Democrats) members of Congress for meeting with a similar hate group.
So what's the difference between the NOI and FRC anyway? That one is a Muslim extremist hate group and the other is a Christian extremist hate group. And there are a lot more ties from MANY elected to the FRC that are direct and ongoing than there are with elected and the NOI.

FRC and NOI are similar hate groups? Really?

I'm not a fan of guilt by association, particularly not as long as the association only goes one way. For example, "David Duke supports republican A" does not imply that "republican A supports David Duke, no matter how hard the Rachel Maddows or (if the shoe is on the other foot) Glenn Becks of the world try to make it so.

Tony Perkins cut a check for 82,500 bucks to David Duke.for his mailing list. He was the campaign manager of a Republican US Senate candidate at the time. He's also spoken to the CCC. He openly campaigned for the recriminalization of being LGBT and has spent tens of thousands of dollars fighting condemnation of nations that criminalize being Gay and are seeking to EXECUTE or JAIL for life their entire LGBT populations.

Yea but he's a white "Christian" so I suppose its his privilege to defend genocide, buy mailing lists from David Duke, and hang out with the CCC.

If you can't condemn the FRC, but are attacking the NOI, which is similarly repulsive, then I'm goiog to question whether your condemnation isn't about being offended by a religious group making outrageous advocacy and statements, but simply because its an offensive Black and Muslim group doing so.

Seriously, show of hands? Is advocating criminalizing being Gay beyond the pale? Is spending tens of thousands of dollars to lobby in defense of throwing all Gay people in a country in prison for the crime of existing and executing them for being gay in some cases acceptable when Tony Perkins and his organization do it?

Now, the NOI offends me. But don't expect me to treat the FRC with any privilege. If anything the FRC is much more sinister and dangerous IMHO because they're much more powerful and far greater threat to the LIFE, liberty, and basic freedoms of every single LGBT person on Planet Earth.

The only one of the politicians that listed did came out and condemn what that whackjob said.

ellison Mistakes In His Past

Ellison said that being with Louie was a mistake of his past that he wanted to get away from. You would disavow someone from your past that have done something wrong.
