PAC 12 is stuck until 2024
Larry Scott had some comments on a variety of topics, but I found the general tenor of his remarks on TV, scheduling, and media contracts to be interesting.

PAC 12 Commissioner news conference

It doesn't look like the PAC is going to have the flexibility to alter many of their problems until a new contract is negotiated in a few years. The current rights deal expires in 2024.

-DirecTV has not even made an offer to carry their network...I found that very interesting.

-The PAC had to offer a consistent slate of night games in order to get other goodies from ESPN and FOX.

-Opportunities to expand their slate of streaming partners may be increasing though.

-Is it just me or is PAC 12 basketball not nearly as good as it used to be? Scott isn't worried about the quality of the league, but it feels like they need a boost.

If Alabama squeezes into the NCAA, and today it looks like they just might, it will likely be at Arizona State's expense. If that happens the PAC will be a one bid conference. That's right, 1 bid.

They don't have many options and they don't have enough money to seriously lure schools from the Big 12 either.

Now maybe an Amazon will help them out a bit, but even Amazon has to have numbers of viewers for their product, and numbers of viewers is one thing the PAC is in short supply of.

RE: PAC 12 is stuck until 2024
The Direct TV feed is not channeled to individual markets like cable, so there is really no way for Direct TV to charge for the PAC networks without charging every one of their subscribers the same rate.
The PAC needs Oklahoma football and Kansas basketball, but with no markets the addition of OU, USU, KU and KSU is potential suicide for both entities. As long as Texas won't go west, the PAC is stuck which is why there is talk of schools leaving the PAC to move to the Big 12.
Those Texans have long memories........Stanford screwed the pooch
