Player to watch: Three-year standout Rob Gray finally gets his shot in the tournament, as Houston is in the dance for the first time in eight years. Gray, who will turn 24 next month, is averaging a career-high 4.5 assists per game to go with 18.5 points a game.

Key stat: Houston rebounds way above what its collective size suggests it should. According to KenPom.com, Houston was the 323rd-tallest team in Division I. Yet the Cougars rank ninth nationally in rebounding rate.

Upset factor: Sturdy. BPI gives San Diego State a 26 percent chance to advance. Vegas favors the Cougars by only four.

Putting the last of my Super Bowl winnings on Houston. Please don't Coug this...

something interesting of note: if you didnt know the seeds of the tourney and solely based guessed the seeds based on the pre-game presser
youd think we we were a 14 seed and they were a 3 seed

our presser was basically ringing to the tone of "we have little chance if we dont play our absolute best" "they are that good" "they have height"

our players literally called themselves "the underdogs" in the presser...(referencing them having height and some blue chip players)
then they go on to say they have to put everything they have out there on the court..

in contrast: the sdsu guys did not lack of confidence
"we been here before", "we've been playing hot".."we handle our assignments and we should win"

a sdsu player actually said this "they play a lot like Nevada and you see what we did to them" (if you arent familiar they were up 30 at halftime vs top 25 nevada)

i thought the way the pressers went was odd

I'm just disappointed I don't get to kill a couple of hours at work watching the Coogs.

It'll be interesting to see who all the chicken fans in town cheer for as they will almost certainly have the largest block of fans. On one hand SDSU is the underdog which usually means fans without a dog in the fight will cheer for them. On the other hand, SDSU did go up an win in Allen Fieldhouse a few years ago and i'm sure KU fans haven't forgotten that.
