UNT basketball opponent Jacksonville St news
Prayers go out to UNT’s basketball opponent on Wednesday night, the Jacksonville St Gamecocks. Their town and campus was hit by a tornado on Monday night. Luckily their game was at Central Arkansas (as well as it is Spring Break) and with the win they will travel straight to Denton. Hopefully UNT will treat them with the utmost hospitality as I expect they would.

So thankful that they were on Spring Break, but I still feel horrible for the city. I have every expectation that UNT and Denton will take good care of the team while they stay with us.

That sucks, I hope all effected make a speedy recovery.

As far as the game is concerned, I think UNT owes Ray Harper a good ole butt whippin.

Just curious, what is the tie between UNT and Harper?

My "guess" is that since the Ray Harper comment was posted by a WKU fan it was more about the WKU fan wanting Ray Harper to get a "good ole butt whippin" as he was the WKU head coach from 2011-12 through 2015-16 (5 seasons total). As far as the UNT fan saying he's had it coming for a long time, I'm out on that one.

I don't think Harper lost to North TExas, including beating Tony Mitchell in title game one season for Sun Belt....

And that WKU player that, singlehandedly, beat UNT back then. Mendez Mendez Hernandez? Or something like that. I still have nightmares.03-pissed

RE: UNT basketball opponent Jacksonville St news
No true UNT fan will ever forget Orlando Mendez-Valdez, but then again a lot of teams fans won't forget the year he had his senior year. I've never seen a player since play with the swag he carried and could back it up. But OMV was coached by Ken McDummy. Ray was only an assistant.

But an even more painful memory could be that UNT let a Ray Harper team beat them with Teeng Akol out dueling Tony Mitchell. Best game Teeng Akol ever played. That would stick in may culo for sure.

I know UNT has been rolling in this tourney but I wouldn't sell a Ray Harper tourney team short.

Terribly sad what happened to Jacksonville State. I hope we do something during the game to help their community.
