Ad Free Premium changes with Aurora, and request for feedback
So right now Ad Free Premium simply removes all advertising site wide for $15/yr. That's it. Just that simple.
When Aurora is launched, it will have the following additional benefits at no additional cost:
- Removal of all non-internal tracking and analytics site wide (Google Analytics, etc). When browsing this site you will effectively be completely unplugged from typical tracking and analytics that are pervasive on almost the entire internet.
- Alternate domain proxy browsing to avoid work filters.
- Increase posts per page above 40 (60/80). The lower posts per page thresholds are both for advertising layout considerations as well as those operating on extremely limited or metered connections (dial up, 3G, etc).
- The ability to receive email alerting for private messages and quoted posts. When Aurora launches, all standard accounts will be limited to no more than one daily digest email a day. This is due to the enormous volume of email subscriptions generates. And since email is now done via Google Business to avoid spam filtering problems, truly enormous volumes of email are not free to send this reliably.
I welcome user feedback if anybody has any suggestions for things they would find valuable which might be financially impractical when offered to everybody. That's kind of the point to AFP. A better experience, but one where you have to pay for the extra features you get (or, in the case of advertising, standard features you DON'T get).
