RE: Baseball at Marshall
So does Berry select the 4:00 pm game Wednesday assuming the top seed gets 1st choice like last year?

I was really hoping we could pull him early but given the way the bullpen has been lately, can’t blame Berry.

Assuming we win this series, if I’m Berry, Sandlin throws five innings in the first game of the tourney and is done until the regional.

Donaldson is a heck of a bunter...but agreed on bunting for a base hit?? I'd trust him more than probably anyone for getting a sac bunt down though.

7-2 after 3 complete.

yes he is....

if men of 1st and 2nd with no outs or man on 1st late in a tight game, I get it....

that move today was a small ball head scratcher.....

IMO, it's starting to become disturbing how often bald berry is going to that well lately with this cast of characters.......

personally, I go with the late game to avoid the sun or the wind being an influence as it usually dies down after the sun sets....

the bigger questions are, do you start powell or powers in g1 and sandlin in g2???.....is powers going to be healthy???

I say that b/c that's what I would be thinking about going into whatever regional (assuming we don't lose the next 4) whether as a 2 or 3 seed....

The biggest downside to playing the late game is weather or extra inning games earlier in the day could put you starting at 9 pm or later. At least with the 4:00 pm game if delays happen you are starting at 6 or 7 pm possibly. Then the 7 pm game that starts at say 9 pm goes long you’re looking at not finishing until after midnight.

I get both sides of the argument.....and if you lose (which we did last year that cost me a round at Grand Bear friday a.m.), you do have to play early the next day.....

weather wise, it's usually better to go late IMO.....

it's moot at this point.....the decision has been made.....

I don't see anything changing with our starting rotation for this tourney (although I would toss Sandin in G2 since I would do the same in a regional)......the question now becomes is Powers going to be available....

Can't seem to wrap my head around why we ever try to bunt for a hit. I am curious whether these are called or if Berry/Caillet gives them the green light to bunt at will.

Only person in the every-day line-up I would be ok doing it would be Montenegro if he attempted a drag bunt. His speed could allow him to reach for a hit.

or if Franklin was your lead-off batter......

that was the third time I remember Donaldson attempting to bunt for a hit......it's a TTT head scratcher....

Bunting, if executed properly, could be a difference in winning and losing the farther we make it in the post season. The problem is we haven’t executed the bunt very well this year. When we do, a lot of times we take two strikes with runners in scoring position and have to hit the pitchers best pitch after that.

I agree that bunting has its place. We seem to have some odd times to try it.

Times when we have attempted to bunt that drive me crazy:
1. Leading off an inning, unsuccessful attempts and now have one out
2. 3 and 4 hole hitters attempting bunts to combat a shift
- those guys rarely (if ever) bunt so percentage of success is low
- if (when) unsuccessful in attempts, puts batter behind in the count and unlikely to see decent pitches going forward in at-bat
3. Bunting guys for a hit with little-to-no speed

Why the hell is it that the video links never works for me on my laptop. Works fine on my mobile devices but when I use the link on my computer it opens up itunes and a blank playlist that won't play or anything.

Thanks. Done. Works now. I don't understand why chrome or firefox wouldn't already have some type of plug-in already for links like that...?

BTW...eagles bats looking lethargic. C'mon.

Down 2-0 in the top of fifth. Not good to be behind before the bullpen is called upon.
