RE: 2018 Wins vs. the Power 5
Wow, there were NINE wins by non-A5 over A5 this week, highlighted by the MWC notching three wins versus the PAC.

Nine might be a record for a week.

North Texas killing Arkansas at Arkansas (also a L to Colorado St)
Fresno destroying UCLA at UCLA (also a Home loss to Cincinnati)
Wow Arky and UCLA are really bad this year vs the non cartel schools.

I am not of fan of either school, but UCLA and ARK are completely changing their systems. They do not have the type of players both of these coaches want. I read in article the UCLA has like 20 freshmen playing in their 2 deep roster, because the players Kelly inherited from Mora didn't fit his uptempo system. I would imagine it is similar at ARK since Brett B's ground and pound guys don't fit the spread system either that Morris wants.

P6 my ass. The AAC is barely above the rest of the G5.

The AAC has as many wins as the Sunbelt, Cusa, and Mac combined.
Only the MWC is somewhat close. 4 vs 6.

I guess Barely is a subjective term...
Sunbelt 1/6
Cusa 1/3
Mac 1/2
MWC 2/3

Sure, the AAC is the Top G5 conf but to suggest they're anywhere close to the P5 is silly.

AAC has won 40% of their games against the P5 since 2015.

Not coincidentally, about 60% of those games have been on the road.

We hold our own.

Sure, against lower level P5 teams, you guys hold your own. Not enough to justify the P6.

RE: 2018 Wins vs. the Power 5
Where have I seen this movie before?

Yep. The MWC a decade ago when they had a better trio at the top, TCU, Utah and BYU. They claimed they were “Above the Rest”, they even had it as their motto on commercials. Their commissioner was always stating they were the 7th BCS conference. He took jabs at the Big East as being underserved of the automatic bid and the fans looked down at the other 4 nonAQ leagues.

How the mighty have fallen. History always repeats itself.

Seems very similar. I don't have an issue with the AAC because they are doing great things for the G5(UCF). But to suggest they are a power conference is delusional.

I don’t have an issue with them either. They have the Florida twins doing good things. Like the MWC of ten years ago, they’re beating the right P5 schools. They have good things going for them and they should feel proud. I wish them well. But they’re not P6 and never will be. Like I used to tell MWC fans years ago, schools get promoted, not entire conferences. For every Cincinnati that might promoted there’s an East Carolina that’s going to be left behind. To put it on perspective, each AAC school make less than 5% on tv money of what Rutgers is expected to get from the Big Ten. Even if they manage to get a big bump in tv money, they’ll get about 10% of what Rutgers will get. They don’t have a contract with a NY6 Bowl. P5 schools don’t see them as equals. They’re just a G5, just like the rest.

Updated for Week 5. UL Monroe at Ole Miss is the only game scheduled for Week 6 as we move into conference play.

To be fair, who do you think the P5 top teams run up thier win totals against?

RE: 2018 Wins vs. the Power 5
The AAC is a conference of mostly P5 level programs, unfortunately it has no name brands or perrenial national title contenders so it is less desirable for television and for that reason the networks deride them, pushing their television value even lower because they don't want to pay fair market value for the product.

I'd love to see NBC, infamous for looking for bargains on sports content, ink a deal to air an AAC game of the week each Saturday and a second game on weeks where Notre Dame is playing an away game and/or NBC is airing the ND game in prime time. make the deal worth 6-8 million/school.
