Withers out at Texas State
Looks like Everett Withes is done at Texas State. Looking forward for him claiming success when next coach turns them around.

Hey, I heard Bridgewater needs an equipment manager.

He did. Appreciate that but by now we would have wanted Bourne to fire him. He did us a favor by leaving for more $.

Im surprised TX State has enough cash to buyout his remaining two years left on his contract. I would have thought he would come back for at least come back one more season. I bet his post game antics got old in San Marcos.

RE: Withers out at Texas State
His last game a 12-7 loss vs. Troy was actually a respectable loss by Withers and Texas State standards.

Has to be his last shot at FBS as a head guy I would think.

Yep, he's one of those people who manages to find someone desperate and willing to take a chance. Wouldn't surprise me to see him at Eastern Michigan, GA State, etc.

Incarnate Word's Eric Morris is a leading candidate to take over at TxSt.

The other leading candidate?
Mike Jinks, a combined 7-24 record at Bowling Green.

High standards they got down there, LOL

RE: Withers out at Texas State
How could they possibly hire a guy w/ a 7-24 record at a similar level conference?

Then again, we hired a men's head basketball coach w/ a career 29-51 record (Sherm) 03-nutkick

RE: Withers out at Texas State
The sub headline of that article on Withers says,
"Texas State fires Everett Withers after team fell to 3-8 this season"

Sadly for them, that is incorrect. After back to back 2-10 seasons, a 3-8 season represents a "rise" in performance!

Just had to add this: one of their fans had a "top picks". Get ready to laugh folks....
1.Kleinman. As if he would go from perennial champion to dumpster fire.
2. Houston- LOL yeah. Just because Withers took the money grab I guess they think Houston is dumb enough to do the same thing. Sorry, but you are not the "special offer" that he was speaking about.
3 Keeler- As long as they don't play anyone and don't mind a guy that will blame anyone but himself.

Here's the rest:

It does seem bananas.
Mike Jinks has been 4-8, 2-10, 1-6 at Bowling Green the past 3 years, a program that was previously 10-4, 8-6, 10-4

I'm guessing after the "big bucks" they shelled out to Withers, and the buyout they owe him, they are bargain bin shopping now. Supposedly they hung up on a coach who asked them what the budget for assistants would be.

Looking for a "successful" coach by hoping a 6-4 first year head coach from the SLC will work out also screams desperation. Even KC Keeler (51-17 at SHSU) looks like a much better choice, but probably isn't interested.

Funny to read a Texas State guy rag on Sam Houston State's academics. My recollection was that they were both pretty low hanging fruit. Maybe they've improved though

Rough run for TxSt. Hope they rebound. Withers didn't do any favors down there.

To #2, Houston has the potential to make more than what EW made at Tx State if we make it to Frisco. LOL.
