I would send the band if the band director supports them going.

Yeah, definitely important. Leadership has to push for it. School isn't going to push them to go, I suspect. Hope it's a situation where if the band leadership wants to do it, the school makes it happen.

Agree 100%.....Hopefully the band leadership (the drum majors? not sure on terminology, but the guys/girls that do the direction) and band director are pushing for it. The band and football team have a great relationship so I know the football team would love to see them there and think the band would want to be there for them.

I was just checking flights from Fort Lauderdale to Syracuse (one hour drive from Colgate) on Friday (coming back on Sunday) and a one stop ticket was surprisingly cheap. Anyone else flying in to Syracuse Friday that might want to carpool down to the Colgate area from the airport? I have no plane ticket, car, hotel room or game ticket lined up yet but am strongly thinking about going if I can find some JMU fans to watch the game with.

Yeah drum majors is the right term. The students in white who conduct everything except National Anthem. It would be helpful if they were pushing the staff, but it's mostly just up to the staff I suspect.

The other element is if the school doesn't feel like paying after all they've spent with Macy's. It's a pretty significant bill, all footed by the university.

FWIW 2014 Stadium Journey article on Colgate’s stadium, the year before they upset UNH & JMU in the playoffs, making it to the quarterfinals.

Wanted to buy tickets through Colgate to sit up high on the “home” side, but thought ordering through JMU can incrementally help me in DC points. Might be wrong. Those visitor bleachers are LOW even at the top.

Since this is a NCAA game, we get tickets starting on the 50 right?

Flying in to Syracuse Friday afternoon. Staying at Holiday Inn Express Dewitt-Syracuse east of Syracuse. (about 35 miles from Hamilton, NY/Colgate) Just need to get my game ticket. Are most of you buying through JMU?

Why would anyone buy through JMU? From the Colgate site you can literally pick your exact seats, visitor or home side.

+ doesn't JMU charge a processing fee on ticket orders? Colgate website was straight $20 a ticket, no processing fee.

Just to reiterate, I am driving solo from White Plains, NY. If anyone can make it to Grand Central or Penn, I’d be happy to pick you up. I also don’t know anyone else who is going, so it would be nice if I had someone to drive with and not tailgate by myself like Steven Glansberg

P.S. For anyone considering carpooling, I’ll be leaving around 4:30 am so that I can get a good three hours of drinking in before the game, sober up, and be back in the NYC area around 8 pm

Tat,

Will not be making the drive with you but happy to tailgate. Should arrive around 10 with my son.

If you can buy through Colgate and then sit just about wherever you want in the stadium then that would probably be a better option, but I have no idea if that is the case. Some stadiums are tight on being able to move around and sit other than your assigned seat and some are not. I was just curious as to where others might be sitting. Tickets purchased through JMU pretty much assures you would be sitting with other JMU fans.

Yeah, Colgate's site lists individual seats for purchase that you can select.

Ummm ... love Amtrak to NYC, but Colgate is almost 4 hours drive from NYC, and not the most direct route to get there.

Maybe if you want to do extended sightseeing, and can figure out how to get a rental car there, but that would be one heckuva Uber bill.

Carpool / driving partners should be cheaper and faster.
I meant to quote Tat's post offering to drive people from NYC - just saying if you can get to NYC on amtrak he would drive the rest of the way. Plus he's a REAL FUN GUY TO HANG OUT WITH
