I've got a good feeling that we may land him. No inside info, just a gut feeling.

Exciting!
Any info out there about how he did? Something not from a paysite
No just my thoughts; he will have have a ton of the current high profile teams after him. But love his shooting ability and really think he would be perfect in Brannen's system. Thinking back over the Bearcat's long history most of our star front court players were in the 6'7" to 6'9" range. Really have not had much success with those in the seven foot range. It would great to have a big who could step out and shoot. I guess maybe the late Pat Cummings was our best shooting tall player; he was more in the 6'9" area.

Dontonio wasn't bad iirc but don't know his stats. Honestly wish he played a little closer to the basket but he did enjoy launching from trey.

RE: BB Class of 2020
Now that Cincy has wrapped up the 2019 class, let's continue speculation on the 2020 class where Cincinnati will have at least 5 scholarships available.
3 star PG Mike Saunders completed an official visit this weekend to Cincinnati and was given two crystal balls by 247's top two recruiting experts Brian Snow and Evan Daniels. Safe to say he is currently our most likely 2020 commit. He previously held an offer from John Brannen when John was still at NKU so there's some history there.
Per Chad Brendel's twitter, Cincinnati likely has another unofficial visitor, 2020 SF Trey Galloway, on campus today.

Got to love this tweet on Mike Saunders...
Cole Anthony is the #4 player in the nation for the 2019 class who ended up signing with UNC.

Well, he's currently #208 as of the last rankings update (5/9/19) by 247 so he seems like a prospect who might see a jump given his recent play. The kid is lightning quick from the videos I've watched and I'm sure more high-majors will come calling. Logan Johnson was #192 by 247 for reference and most on this board were high on him.

And unlike LoJo, his shot doesnt look more busted than a two cent hooker.

A year ago at this time he was heavily involved with a kid that is going to be a lottery pick and another that played a prominent role on a Final Four team. Both while at "Upstate Kentucky". The guy knows what he is doing...

I think the point was that, just because CJB was coaching in upstate Kentucky, doesn't mean he was always going after scrubs. You can't assume Mike Saunders is not going to be great "just because CJB recruited him at NKU." According to 247, Saunders is currently rated about the same as MAW from the 2019 class.
Not every kid is going to be in the top 100 or top 50. If we can get a trio like Saunders, 4* Trey Galloway (who I heard had a pretty close relationship with Saunders), and then a ~top 50 guy like Loveday, that'd be ideal.

RE: BB Class of 2020
Saunders is a hell of a floor general with excellent speed and quickness. He averaged 4.3 assists per game with a really solid 2.3 A/T ratio last season. He shot 56% from the field and 33% from three - the biggest knock on him is his shot and that long-range percentage, which are certainly valid. But sometimes you take the good with the bad when it comes to recruiting and trust a coach to develop his strengths while minimizing his weaknesses.
Plus, when you're talking about 4-year players, it's hard to knock Brannen for going after a kid with those numbers who he's built a rapport with since NKU.

Not to mention rankings are fluid. Brannen should have been developing relationships with a lot of good players at NKU as freshmen and sophomores because you don't necessarily know who's going to be the guys who develop into power conference guys. Look how quickly the Moeller kid went from not having local offers to being a lottery pick. Extreme case there but you've got to be developing relationships for those reasons.

RE: BB Class of 2020
In this new era of the transfer portal and grad transfers it is great to build and keep relationships with as many recruits as you can. Nice to see all the visits that are being reported; we will get some but maybe a few you lose will be back in play if their first destination does not pan out. That really seems to have helped the Bearcat football team recently.

which is why, not to go beyond the 2020 class on the 2020 page, but if I'm CJB I'm actively building relationships now with guys like Paul McMillan IV (2022) or Rayvon Griffith (2023). Both play in Cincy and will be top 25 national kids. Not saying Cronin had a chance with Jaxson Hayes, but those are the types of local kids a Fickell type coach would never give up on.. gotta pursue to see what happens
