Husband of a wife who got her Masters in Education ('94) and during that school year she gave birth to a future ODU basketball (men's) player who graduated in Finance ('16). I have been going to both men's and women's games since the 70's.

2011 grad Finance/Economics. My brother is a 2009 grad.

1993 BSME, originally from the valley and wanted to go somewhere a long way from home, but still in state. First exposures to ODU were catching the fabled UAB basketball game on TV and a magazine article from the mid '80's that highlighted ODU's and Louisiana Tech's womens basketball programs. Stormed the court when we beat UVA at the Scope!

Oh yeah, my wife graduated in '93 with an education degree.

Have had men's basketball season tickets since before the Ted opened. Have had football season tickets from day one. Had women's basketball season ticket for years, but finally gave them up. Got too ugly. Loooooooong trip from Roanoke.....

Graduated in 95 BS in Business .. currently serving on the alumni board. Met some really good friends for life from the old CAA zone - still hang out today ..

Grew up in Richmond area, Highland Springs. I was accepted to UVa, Tech, and WM, but passion was to go to Miami (FL) for Oceanography, but the financial help they offered did not bridge the gap enough to be able to go. Was getting into May of my senior year, and ODU had made some partial scholly offers previously, but they came through with a full ride through the Dominion Scholar program. My parents then basically bribed me by buying me a MGB convertible if I chose ODU, which I did. Never regretted the decision, left school debt-free, and have maintained numerous lifetime friendships that started in Norfolk.

B.S. Communications 2010

Worked for Rec Sports for one year and the admissions office for close to five years. Also interned with Global Spectrum, now Spectra, at the Ted Spring of 2009.

Was #26 out of my high school graduating class of 300+, but had zero desire to go to college. My older sister was at UVa at the time and wanted me to go there, but I absolutely hated the elitist attitudes of people there. I basically applied to ODU because I wanted to get away from home and everyone around me. Ended up loving the place and wouldn't change my decision. My only regret was that my minor was not my major. However after switching majors three times, I settled on Comm.. Now I do logistics and contracts for a well-known start-up company.

Choice of VCU or ODU. Chose ODU 1971-1976. BS Psych. Freshman year, lived in Gresham East. Basketball was still Div 2. Played at fieldhouse. Trashcans were filled with 2x4 blocks given to students as spirit noise makers. Was crazy loud.

Graduated '81, BSET. The only way I got out was taking my technical writing professor to drink beer and play pinball at King's Head and Zeros. Great teacher.

Thats cool. Pretty easy to figure out who your son is. I enjoyed watching him play. How is he doing these days? Always wish the best for former Monarchs.

When I told my HS friends in NY is was attending Old Dominion the first thing they mentioned was Women's basketball. That gives you an idea of the reach ODU Women's basketball had in the 80s.

undergrad: Civil Engineering '12
Grad: Environmental Engineering '15

But don't let the years fool you, I'm not that young unfortunately. I started school at UCLA back in the early 80s, then got my degree at ODU when I was close to 50. Better late than never!
