Tim Scott

Some people need to understand that that you can be against racism AND be conservative.

More generally, you can be liberal and be conservative. In fact, one might reasonably suspect that right now, MOST liberals are also conservative, and MOST conservatives are also liberal. It is certainly true that every single conservative I know personally is liberal.

The most illiberal group, of course, is the "progressives".

Democrats gonna 'Democrat':

On the 6 vote, certified House win by Miller Meeks in IA 6 over Hart ----

Quote:But a source close to the process confirmed to Playbook that the effort to oust Miller-Meeks in favor of Hart has been blessed by the top echelons of House Democratic leadership. And the DCCC has brought in — and is paying the legal fees for — top Democratic election lawyer MARC ELIAS, this person said.

RE: Democrat policies
From a journalist who has covered border patrol activities during the last four administrations but suddenly under the Biden administration his only option to cover what is happening comes from the Mexican side of the border:

Quote:Most asylum seekers cross the Rio Grande into South Texas on land controlled by federal agents. For decades, the U.S. government has let journalists accompany Border Patrol agents and other officials as they surveil the land. But since the change in administration, those agents have been physically blocking journalists from the riverbank. For example, after being turned down for official access on a trip in February, I followed a Border Patrol transport bus in my own vehicle to where agents were detaining migrants. They stopped me before I got close enough to take pictures. They called a supervisor, and ordered me to leave immediately.

We have gone from the Trump-era “zero tolerance” policy toward immigrants to a Biden-era “zero access” policy for journalists covering immigration. This development is unprecedented in modern history.

I wonder what our resident leftists here think about the border situation. I guess they approve of it, since silence is compliance. Same for the efforts to make the US a safe one party country.

I wonder what OO thinks about another dude going on a killing-spree with an AK. He must approve of it, since silence is compliance.

(ridiculous I know, but apparently your standard is that we "approve of" every recent news story that we haven't commented on.)

I think he should be prosecuted. I don't see this as a political story, like the border crisis or Democrat efforts to overturn legal elections. I also have not commented on the road rage incident on I-35 N or on the DV incident in Dallas. But I will if you need me to.

"silence is compliance" comes from where? I do love to tweak the left wingers with their own words and hypocrisy. Actually, I don't agree with the concept - but it was thrown at right-wingers by leftists (again, who?), so why not throw it back?

Your turn.

That's actually a common refrain these days!

I know several people on Facebook whose modus operandi is to take something that no one defends and demand, "Hey [people I disagree with], how can you defend this?"

In a similar vein, I've occasionally been criticized for not criticizing something that everyone else was criticizing. The criticism was comprehensive, and I had nothing to add, but I was chastised anyway for not joining the chorus of righteousness.

If the BLM movement had not popularized this concept, I would never mention it. I don't believe it as being generically true. But I quote it TIC to demonstrate what a silly concept it is. Just another version of "If you ain't with us, yer agin us".

OTOH, I would would really like to hear what our resident leftists think of the Biden Border Crisis, its origins and what should be done at this point. Silence. I would really like to hear what they think of Pelosi's drive to unseat the legally elected Iowa Representative, after their team has made such a stink about Trump supporters filing all those lawsuits. Silence. I am interested in hearing what they have to say about the efforts to forever relegate the GOP/conservatives to minority status - DC statehood, paths to citizenship, eliminate the filibuster, etc. Silence.

But all I get is silence and STFU, do not speak if we have not initiated it. If they have opinions on these subjects, i would like to hear them.

Iowa election

"Other Democrats have voiced discomfort with the prospect of the appearance of a partisan power grab and worry about looking hypocritical since Democrats have widely criticized former President Donald Trump's claims of election fraud and mismanagement."

The problems can be solved by returning DC to the jurisdiction of Maryland. The need the FF saw in keeping Federal government away from the influence of a particular state does not exist in this century.

A moron with an AK isn't official state policy. Border control and reporter access is.

You voted for the people engaging in the latter. NOBODY voted to allow murder.

I have lots of confidence that i'm not speaking of you when I say this... but this is where someone from the extreme left usually says something like... if you aren't voting for the elimination of all guns, you're voting FOR murder.... which is neither true nor constructive.... and not even discussing a serious issue in good faith.

I must say I do oppose murder.

Ask a certain Georgetown law professor about his view on whether 'silence is compliance' is not a real issue......

Sen Warren (D - Indian nation) and Rep. Always On Camera introduced the Green New Deal bill recently.

Get a load of this which is buried in the bill:

Quote:“The BUILD GREEN Infrastructure and Jobs Act will make the big federal investments necessary to transform our country’s transportation system, confront the racial and economic inequality embedded in our fossil fuel economy, and achieve the ambitious targets for 100% clean energy in America.”

"..... confront the racial and economic inequality embedded in our fossil fuel economy." Seriously? Neat prototypical racial/ socioeconomic carny hustle there.

And, there are people that buy this crap.

From one of the news reports:

"A law enforcement official briefed on the shooting told The Associated Press that the gunman used an AR-15 rifle, a lightweight semi-automatic rifle."

Is that the same as an AK? Tanq seems to know guns, maybe he can tell us.
