I never said they shouldn't be.
Sorry - hit the quote button instead of just reply. Is hell freezing over? We agree on something?

Oh the World. I stopped subscribing. Does that say it all? Probably not. I read the Star Tribune (minneapolis) online instead. As for sports coverage, when TU does poorly, they ignore TU or write really horrible stories. When TU wins and is doing well, it's front page news. IOW they are fairweather fans. However, TU does get the Big XII shaft a lot. There are more OU and OSU fans, which means they buy more papers, which means they get better coverage. TU does get way more coverage than ORU though (thank god!).

Speaking of the "if", here's a bit of a tangent.
I've read the World a handful of times, whenever we go out to visit OwlJacket's parents. I've found it to be a lot less irritating than the Houston Chronicle (a.k.a. Barnacle, Comical, etc.) But then, the Houston rag has had a lot more time to wear down my patience, so it's hard to compare them by myself -- I'd like to know what Tulsa fans think.
So, how do y'all find the Tulsa paper's coverage of the Hurricane and of WAC stuff in general (and to extrapolate, what do you expect after the move to C-USA)? When it comes to Rice and UH, the Houston media (including and especially the paper) love to wallow in the bad news and skip over the good news. Do y'all get the Big-$-XII shaft too, and to what degree? Or are you lucky enough to where the World is either objective or (gasp) supportive of TU?
The Tulsa World is very supportive of TU athletics for the most part - but mainly when we're successful. As an alum base, its hard to ignore OU and OSU - and they have also had very successful programs (moreso OU). TU's saving grace is that it typically has successful programs - and with the resurgence of football, the Tulsa World has given a lot more coverage.
Don't get me wrong - the TW is a horrible paper - one of hte worst written blurbs in the nation - and when TU isn't successful, they do worse than harp on misfortune, they completely and totally ignore us. So its a two edged sword.
Only my opinion, but it is usually correct.

Wow - two posts in a row. You'd think we're on a psychic wave length.
I'm ready to start fighting again if you are.

What they said about the World, although I enjoy reading it. I think it's a halfway decent paper for a city our size. And TU gets pretty darn outstanding coverage (both athletics and academics) with two state schools just down the road IMHO. I know that SMU would love to get half our coverage in the DMN. We don't have a raw deal at all.

You're completely mistaken. TU has something in the paper all the time. We get treated very well by the World in that regard.

From the paper today the athletes pleaded guilty to 2nd degree burglary in hopes of getting probation. The normal sentence for that offense is 2-7 years according to the paper. I don't know why but that would appear a little strong for this offense( items returned), when convicted murderers can and do get out in 7 years!! One way or the other I hope they learned their lesson!!
