John Havlicek--R.I.P.
John Havlicek. NBA legend dead at 79. If you are a basketball junkie and do not know this guy please read the NY Times excellent article--"John Havlicek, a Dynamo in Two eras of Celtic glory..." If someone wants too they might provide a link.

-- named to the fifty greatest players list

-- scored more points than Larry Bird, Reggie Miller or Jerry West

-- credited with the "greatest steal of all time"

-- known as a man in "constant motion"

IMO one of the best players of all time because of his multiple abilities-- passing, defense, steals, constant running in half court offense, and clutch plays/shooting. He was not an elite shooter but was exceptional in the little things-- the things that win games!

I watched Live 40 years ago when John Havlicek stole the ball to win the NBA Championship over my beloved 76ers. Damn, He was one of the most opportunistic basketball players I ever saw. And he coulda been "Hustlin' Havlicek" because he was always giving it 100% on both ends of the floor. RIP, Indeed.

If you're talking about this steal, it was actually 54 years ago.

Dang. Can't believe that I'm that old! Stand corrected. Thought it was 40.
