If only we had a mode of transportation available whereby teams could travel to any part of the United States to play games against teams from other regions.
But, alas, we all still travel by horseback and it is what it is.
I see.
You're waiting for me to come back with the travel time and expenses argument so you can pounce with your WELL WE'RE PLAYIN' STANFORD HOME AND HOME thing.
You're also playing FAMU and FAU. ... And there's a reason for that.
lol yea it's because like most schools we include an FCS team per year and schools tend to enjoy playing games in recruiting hotbeds like south Florida (the actual south Florida, not Tampa)
Just recently Cal traveled to UNC and Ole Miss for games. UCLA visited Memphis. Cincy traveled to play at UCLA (did you forget that one?). This happens literally every year. And yes, Stanford is playing at UCF this year - magically.
Jeesh.
Nobody is saying that it never happens.
However, if somebody in California has a date to fill and has the choice of Scheduling San Diego St. or Toledo, who are they going to pick?
The scheduling close argument doesn’t apply to Utah. They play games at NIU, Wyoming, and San Jose while refusing to play Utah State.

Can you remind me again how USF's scheduling philosophy is making it impossible for non P5 teams to schedule home and homes?

Wonder what the buyout is for that last game in San Diego, which otherwise sets up beautifully for Mizzou to turn this into a 2 for 1...

Why hasn't SDSU learned their place and stopped demanding home and home series?
First the PAC12 and now the vaunted SEC?? Who do they think they are!?

Can you make a case that any of these schools are "better" than the others? They are important in their regions but none of them have had a relevant season in football in quite a while.
Train of thought for the following;
Cal: Hippies, Aaron Rogers went there
Mizzou: ??? I got nothing. Left Big 12 for SEC and more money.
Pitt: Dan Marino went to school there and they were good in the late 70's.
GT: They shared a national championship with Colorado in 1990. The last time either school was a big name.
Louisville: One of the greatest cheating institutions in the modern era. Got to leave a weak Big East conference and parlayed that into an ACC membership.
Miami: See Louisville Above.

Although I don't like them and hate their "fans", Miami has 5 national championships and had arguably the best teams in college football history...

That's my point, really. They're all "P5" programs that have had some decent years and some bad years. Nothing overly exciting either way.
Which is why I don't understand, for instance, USF getting a 1-1 with NCST but then bending over for a 2-1 with Miami or a 2-1 with Louisville. It's incoherent. You guys were GETTING 1-1 deals with equivalent programs and then all of a sudden you started taking 2-1's like they were going out of style.

RE: SDSU signs yet another Home-Home w/ PAC12
I am curious if the Louisville and Miami series were more about building goodwill for “future considerations”. We have heard that AD Kelly and MBB Coach Gregory were not happy with our recent OOC men’s basketball schedule. Now we see the WBB come out with the likes of ND, Baylor and MissSt on it.
Does that mean Miami and/or Louisville may schedule some Basketball or other Olympic sports series with us? That isn’t clear yet.
Miami has value due to proximity and recruiting. If some kind of long term scheduling relationship could be built there, I think it would be worth some concessions. Would UM schedule an annual game like those that occurred in 2009-2013?
Louisville’s value would be if you could get games in men and women’s basketball.
