FWIW: UNT is 7-6 all time vs Southern Miss including a 3-0 UNT run since we’ve had Littrell as a HC. UNT’s largest margin of victory was 55-14 in 2013. Southern Miss’ last win against us was their biggest, 49-14, in 2015. Since then UNT has won those games by scores of:
2016: 29-23 (+6)
2017: 43-28 (+15)
2018: 30-7 (+23)
Interestingly UNT is 61-61-3 all time against C-USA teams.

Also, I might be wrong. I feel like North Texas have all the ingredients for a run. I don't know why more people aren't on that train.

We are very confident this season's offense will be better that last year's, which was often shut down in the second half of games. But, our defense has real question marks, especially at the LB positions. If we can field just an average defense, UNT should be a real contender this season. I'll know more after I see the team in fall camp.

Because they struggled over the last 6 games going 3-3. They had to replace 5 asst coaches and need to replace 52% on defense. S. Miss and Tech returns more on defense. S. Miss is 4th in the nation in returning Off/Def players. Tech is 30th and UNT 51st

especially their defense
52 points Utah st
21 to UTSA that only avg 14
38 to FAU
34 to ODU
17 to Rice the only team UNT held under their avg...19PPG
29 to UAB

All of that sounds cute, but they have the one thing that trumps all of that.

Productive returning senior quarterback.

They had a 3rd year Jr starting QB last season and finished 3rd in the west and 6th overall in CUSA. So no it doesn't trump all.

If that was the case you could have said the same about Western 2017...with a more productive sr qb

I looked it up.

Of the last ten seasons in CUSA, five champions were with teams with a prominent starting Senior QB.

UAB won because of their defense and being able to ground and pound 4 yards a carry

FAU had a Jr qb and they won because of a wide open system that could run on anyone. Plus a very good defense

Western started a Jr qb in 2016 and a Sr in 2015 and a great supporting cast around them. Including a top defense

Marshall had a really good Sr QB but like Western...a great team supporting that qb

So that's 2 Jr and 3 Sr QB's but if I had to bet my life I would say 2015 &2016 and Marshall's 2014 would beat this UNT team by 2 tds or more

edit: misread the 10 years thought it said last 5. I would agree with you that a good QB helps...Sr or otherwise. But to win a conference championship it takes a pretty good defense to go along with that offense

Tech will surprise this season!

The real question is it a good surprise or a bad surprise.

Everyone ******* and moans when USM talks about the past. Being 500 vs CUSA teams a disgrace.

Florida Atlantic +375

North Texas +475
Southern Miss +500
Marshall +675
Middle Tennessee +875
UAB +975
Louisiana Tech +1300
Western Kentucky +3550
Old Dominion +5750
Charlotte +6600
Rice +8050
UTEP +20000
UTSA +20000

Thoughts?

Charlotte beat 4 teams ranked ahead of them last year and dominated another but lost due to 2 deep turnovers and anyone looking closely expects us to be better. .......yeah, those make great sense. 01-wingedeagle

I think those are odds to win the conference, not odds on a team improving over last year's wins.

Understand, but those odds should be more in line with expected team quality than that.

RE: Odds to win C-USA in 2019
The Utah State game was over when Fine went down. If Fine goes down, UNT hasn't shown it can recover. Keep Fine healthy and you have a shot in every game.

WKU has to worry about attrition while it goes about starting over. Same for Charlotte.

FAU has graduated a ton of OL talent to the NFL recently, along with Motor. Kiffin has a good challenge.

FIU looks a little better.

Marshall has a young, talented offense. It just needs to progress. I can't see Holliday having a bad defense.

Middle and ODU are probably going to have new coaches after this season.

We have surprisingly had very little attrition. We have had some players leave for sure, but none that played significant minutes. If we suck this coming season it will not be from roster turnover.

UTSA is going to surprise a ton of people this season. If our QB remains healthy for the entire season, watch out. We are a much better team than what the UNT homers would have you believe.

WKU is my scary team to watch this year. We played them relatively early in the season before the coach lost the team and the Tops ran off of the rails. They gave us a good scare. Of course, we were playing a true frosh qb and later in the game, a boob who couldn't hit a bull in the butt with a bass fiddle.

Marshall - 19%
WKU - 12%
MT - 10%
Charlotte - 7%
ODU - 3%

UNT - 25%
LaTech - 22%
USM - 20%
UAB - 18%
UTSA - 7%
Rice - 5%
UTEP - 3%

Some of your predictions may be on target. But, I think you are way off base on MT getting a new HC after this season. Unless you know something about our program that I don't; Stockstill has a guaranteed 6 more years and will make about a Million a year guaranteed over that span. He's not even 60 years old yet. He may still be there when we land a manned spacecraft on Mars! 03-lmfao
