Yeah, this doesn’t seem to be the Army team of last year. They’ve completely abandoned the passing game. But they’re also starting from the one pube line each drive. Credit to Rice.

Fatigue setting in for the Rice defense. We may end up just short. Army now leading 14-7 with 4 minutes to go. The offense is going to need a big drive (and they haven't shown that they're capable of doing that yet today).

Tough loss for Rice. Defense played real good.

Good effort by the Owls. Army does not look like the Army of recent years. Damned lucky the untouched fumble by the QB was recovered by your guys, and that 4th down pass should have been caught.

I loathe Monken. His Georgia Southern goons knocked ODU out of two straight 1-AA playoffs during the Heinicke years, and would have loved for you to piss on his season opening game.

I realize that QB Wiley Green is a redshirt freshman but he did play in a few games last year. Against Army, he seemed very... ineffective. Just a bit rusty from the off-season, or something else going on?

We have other QB's who can be given a chance. If Green isn't the answer, the next step is a Harvard grad transfer and then another younger guy who played in a few games last year. We probably have a true freshman who is the long-term answer - but maybe not this year. It also hurt losing our best receiver to suspension at the start of fall camp.

If your defense is THAT good stopping the run, you'll win some games.

Rice's improvements are obvious. Expect Rice to be a tough out for most C-USA teams.

Until proven otherwise I am not convinced we can stop anyone with a semblance of an air attack.

That said I had given us basically zero chance to beat Army, although I thought we’d have a puncher’s chance at home against Wake & Baylor.
Wake didn’t look very sharp yesterday squeaking by Utar State, but they sure did put up big numbers in the air.

Maybe Wiley Green can make hay against the Wake D.
He had us in the game at UNT last year (despite not being all that crisp) until we called off the dogs on blitzing Fine.
