Pretty sure O’Leary resigned as interim AD right after UCF’s loss to Tulane in 2015. He resigned as HC a few weeks later after Houston roasted us at home. Tulane handing out program defining losses like candy...

, QB D'Eriq King says his decision is not final: "I've got to go talk to Coach Holgorsen. It's not just me redshirting. It's a bunch of other guys as well." (Asked when he'll make a final decision) "Today, after 5. It's not final."
The key phrase in that comment is "not just me...a bunch of other guys."
If true...yikes!
Man, Houston's season went from perhaps contending for an NY6 slot to...???
Is it possible to fire Holgorsen after one year, lol? He ain't gonna be 8-4.
Thats starting to get as old as the "Houston---we have a problem" line. Dana is going to be here a while---for better or worse.
LOL. Blame the president and/or Fritatta for saying it (I forget which). That will haunt you for a long time. Extremely dumb thing to say.
Is it as "dumb" as speculating that a first year coach with a 20 million dollar buy out will be fired? lol...Sounds like a dead heat to me.

Nobody is seriously saying that. We're simply making fun of that comment.
But now that you mention it, I wouldn't put it past Fertitta, lol. He's the one who signed the dumb buyout and made the dumb comment to start with.
Back to the OP. King is dumb, too.
Maybe instead of a dumpster fire, you have a dumbster fire.

checks already cashed. i don't think they care as much-we still have 6-12 years to work on our next deal. for now, there are more important things to think about.

But if King is sitting out the rest of the season, what real difference does it make? So maybe you get him back next year, while totally bombing this year. Would you even want a QB who does that?
IMO, that's worse than transferring. Now you're saying the season sucks, and I'd rather give myself another chance next year. Who has ever done that before?
Oh, he also mentioned "a bunch of other guys" are considering doing the same (sitting out and redshirting).
he might still transfer, but the decision to transfer seems like its coming from his dad ...it looks like it wasnt d'eriq decisions..
and if he redshirts and stays...he'd be the 1st, but the rule is only 2 years old, no one else has had the option
and would we want that? very much easily...our OOC is drastically easier next season...most key players are returning..offensce/defensive systems wont be new like this season...a huge portion of our best defensive players are sitting out on transfer rules, who couldn't get waivers..(we have a top 4 5* national freshman recruit from bama sitting out, an all-conference Db sitting out, etc..)
as far as the other players sitting out...the player most likely being mentioned is courtney lark...who was supposed to be part of our 3 headed WR monster group..but hasnt played since game 1
3 other "good" players are red-shirting, but that was the coaches choice because he thinks they are extremely good and doesnt want to waste them... ie we are "trying" to red-shirt mulbah car, a senior RB who still has a redshirt year...holgs thinks he is good enough to start, but also thinks the same of our other 2 RBs, so he is trying to save mulbah..note mulbah only has 2 more games tho...one of the other 2 got injured last week and he had to step in

RE: UH QB D'Eriq King to sit out rest of season, redshirt
So can a player really just decide, in the middle of their college career, to sit out, waste a school's scholarship that year, and roll out?
I'm all for players being able to move around and play where they want, but seems like they'd have to make those decisions between seasons. It's not like Houston can easily replace that scholarship with a starting-caliber player in week 5.

What a loser mentality that is. What kind of coach just flushes an entire season. There is no way I believe this is some grand plan of Dana's, especially after reading King's Dad's comments. Don't bury your head in the sand.
RE: UH QB D'Eriq King to sit out rest of season, redshirt
Who gives a crap about crappy bowls is NY6 Bowl or bust... That's how we see it here.
A lot of current players NOT performing to their potential, and are now getting heat from the coaching staff... Can't handle the pressure so they decide to transfer. Weak... F-Unreal

Good thing this is college athletics and the school isn't trying to make money off the likeness of a player.
I support king being able to go where he wants. Tom Herman showed him early on you have to do what's best for you. Coaches can leave whenever they want and they get paid.
