Let's not get pissy over this, the guy hasn't lived in Charlotte for nearly a decade. We added football since then, so it's impact wasn't observed by him.

You do have a point - I was in the QC pre-football.

Tons and tons of Gamecocks, Tigers, Wuffies, Holes, and a few Pirates & Appies sprinkled in there.

Nobody in the Charlotte market cares about UNC-C. They like App State much better. Count the car stickers and articles in the local newspaper. ECU- App will fill up Panther stadium. UNC-C has no soul.

People have said the same thing about USF and UCF... were not talking about UNCC being a powerhouse soon, but I do see a ton of potential there and they have something most other candidates that these crackpots on this site do not have... a top 25 market. Like it or not, they would be in the top half of market size and their BBall used to be solid.

I can see them growing but I dont know if it will be in time. Things are gonna change in 2025 and it think it might be the last major round of realignment.

I agree Charlotte has potential... and like you said above time may not be in their favor unfortunately when realignment hits again.

If Charlotte basketball was still strong as they once were they could very well be in the Uconn replacement conversation.

I have lived in the Charlotte area for about 8 years now. My observation is that I see more App State apparel, stickers, etc. than UNCC. However, App state has been playing much better Football in those 8 years, and these things take time to build. UNCC has a nice campus, which I have visited when working with some of their senior design engineering classes. Seems like I hear about campus adjacent shootings fairly often, which is not relevant here but more an indictment of the city (not the school). On a selfish note, I’d get to see my Knights every other year. Bring em in!

We need a football only school and Charlotte just doesn’t bring anything to the table. If we were talking soccer or even baseball, it might be different. CUSA’s downfall has been big markets who couldn’t care less about its G5 football program across town. Who cares about a million people if 997,000 stay away on Saturday? App and Boise bring passionate fan bases, National recognition, and a record of success. I’d take either, but App makes more sense.

That said, I'd like to get them on rotation on the schedule with away games at BOA similar to what we're doing with App. It's a pretty decent recruiting market right in our back yard.
