In a related note, Chris Gardner tweeted the following regarding ESPN+ production costs from the ECU AD.

'East Carolina athletics director Jon Gilbert said each broadcast will cost the athletic department around $6,500-$7,500 to hire announcers and a production crew. Multiplied by 45, that’s more than $300,000 annually spent on broadcasting games...'

Stephen Igoe from Hoist the Colours discussed this 12/10 with Gilbert on the radio.

Article: New AAC TV deal provides more money to ECU, but also challenges

So we're basically shelling out $300k but getting a $5 million bump every year. Also about a $1 million one time cost to upgrade the broadcast booth. I'll take it.

So, it's not $2M per year to produce ESPN+ games? Color me shocked! 04-jawdrop

From all the tweets today, I'm getting the impression ESPN is encouraging us to add a 12th team for content.

If ESPN wants it, perhaps they should puppeteer something behind the scenes.

Oh I'm sure the realignment board still believes that's true.

Agree and the FB only comment shows where the value lies...not a surprise to anyone paying attention.

What part of 'football' do you not understand? Are they planning on moving up, and if not, why the fascination with VCU?

Not that hard to figure out he was advocating Air Force for football and VCU for basketball.

Oh, G4 fans loved that $2M myth, too.

Air Force football only... VCU for Olympic Sports!!

Sorry to the people that keep pushing for Dayton or St. Louis, but that is not happening.

VCU is the only Olympic sports program that fits the AAC profile... If not AF/VCU combo then neither will be coming and we are back to BUFFALO, ODU and that level conversation. Army will not survive AAC competition and BYU is not coming.

Maybe CSU FULL member?

Army and Navy care more about their second week of December game than any conference affiliations. So they will never both be in the same conference.
