RE: UConn’s Last FB Recruiting Class
There is little football talent in Connecticut and fans aren't really into college football. There really is no hope for UConn. They might be more competitive in FCS though.

Because it pays money. He might be able to ride the UConn train into retirement. I'm not sure Edall's star has burned any dimmer in the last 25 years as a football coach. I think HS is his next stop.

Yep. No where to bail to.

Connecticut 2020 Football Commits

What I'm most concerned about is that 12 of their signees don't have faces

word on the street is that they opted out of having their picture taken. i can't blame them.

Eventually they'll just dismantle athletics. I give Geno no longer than 10 more years and then they'll just be another Tennessee women's bball. They went to the Big East for women's bball right?

Cincinnati was a football indy for a long time. It didn't work for us, we struggled to recruit. Players want to be able to win a conference championship, get selected to all-conference teams, and now play in a conference championship game. Scheduling is brutal. You have to schedule a bunch of dogs nobody cares about and/or take a bunch of road games to national powers that will kick the crap out of you several games in a year. Its just real difficult all around. I dont' care if they do schedule some more east coast teams, nobody will go to the games if the opponent sucks and you suck. On top of all that, UConn is not like BYU and Notre Dame... they don't have the built in advantage of being the school of choice for an entire religious denomination so you have fans following you all over the country (or even the world).

Well said. They normally have leads than 20 FBS level recruits in the entire state each year. I honestly hope they succeed, but don’t think they have a shot at becoming more than Umass 2.0.

Everyone outside of Texas is the 2nd sister to arguably the best athletic department in the country and where I’m an undergrad alum.

Also, just to point Ohio has Ohio State, Cincinnati, Ohio U, Toledo, Akron, Miami, Kent State that all have D1 football programs.

Cincinnati is located 1-2 hour drives from U.K. (basketball blue blood), Indiana (basketball blue blood), and Louisville.

3 power conferences we recruit against including the two best in SEC and Big Ten.

Add in Dayton, Xavier, and Butler for basketball.

We manage to do a hell of a lot better than Uconn in football and about the same in basketball since joining the American than Uconn outside Napier’s year with a hell of a lot more competition.

Thank you UCONN for never letting ECU finish dead last in the East. Now that you're gone we really have no choice but to get better.

Why is this getting repeated ? There were links in this thread to several 4 stars and many 3 stars (some going to Umass) from Conn. Sorry this doesn’t hold up. . . Just like how we are such a bad basketball conference that Uconn can’t win here.

Guess I touched a nerve there. And if grandma had balls she’d still go to Ohio State and win the Heisman.

Not one bit. My alum team is preparing for the college football playoff and #5 in college basketball. My hometown team is preparing to play the premier college football program of the New England area and coming off a nice basketball win against #21 Tennessee under a first year head coach.

Ugonn on the other hand is preparing for FCS and Big East basketball - Syracuse, Louisville, Pitt, Cincinnati, West Virginia, Notre Dame, South Florida + 3 A10 schools = A New Big East/A10 Mashup!

It’s pure gold actually! Merry Christmas everyone!

Your team which played for the conference championship is playing a 6-6 team that no one in New England cares about. You really need to call Taboo and get the plane back from Fantasy Island. G5 is G5 and that ain’t gonna change.

Build your program on transfers. See how well that works when one of your recruiting classes flames out. Back to 0-12 you go!
