I think you are smart enough to see that this is not going well for the democrats and is not going to end well for them. If they do have anything on Trump they have bungled the process so badly no one but true anti Trumpers have any faith or belief in anything they say.

And they've bungled it so bad, when he wins reelection he will have dictatorship level power because they won't be able to try it again.

I don't know. The democrats have repeatedly shown a degree of stupidity and ineptness that has not been seen to date. It wouldn't surprise me to see them try this again regardless of how damaging the current process is to them. The only hope is to see them soundly defeated and them losing both chambers along with the presidency.

The Supreme Court hasnt decided yet if they were lawful subpoenas. The President maintains only the judiciary committee has the power to issue the subpoenas

They have served their base by impeaching and done it in such a way as their failure to remove Trump can be laid on the Republican Senate. Their base is not only happy, but fired up over this.

They did all this far enough ahead of the elections that they can quiet it down in districts where they need to pull independent votes, but close enough to the election that they can use it in districts where it can help them.

They have done exactly what they set out to do.

I agree; however, they failed massively when they didn't consider Trump's base getting fired up and ALSO that many Indy's are now on Trumps side due to the impeachment nonsense.

And as such, it's plainly, simply a political stunt. They may have played it just as they intended, I'm not certain in the least that it yields the outcome they are hoping for. I know my freshman D rep is running scared already, and she doesn't even have a declared opponent yet.
