Question about Net Cutting Ceremonies
Today, Drexel WBB won their share of the CAA Regular Season Championship. After the game, the players raised the trophy, got championship tee-shirts to put on then cut down the nets. Now, I've been following college basketball for a long time, and I don't remember seeing a team go this far before. I've watched other Drexel men's and women's teams clinch first place at home, but there was no cutting down the nets.
Is this a new thing in college basketball or the CAA? Did Hofstra do this the past two years? Did JMU women do it today at W&M after their game?
The real championship is winning the conference tournament. Finishing in 1st place is just a nice little accomplishment that shouldn't necessarily be celebrated this far.

RE: Question about Net Cutting Ceremonies
Never seen a team cut down nets for anything other than winning a conference tourney, NCAA regional or tournament final.

RE: Question about Net Cutting Ceremonies
Florida State's Men did it yesterday, but it was special because it was their first regular season title in 29 seasons in the ACC. They were picked fifth.
