RE: Big 10 Conference News
Well, this is unfortunate. I get the decision but I don't think it is the correct one, especially if the athletes want to play. A spring season would need to be extremely abbreviated or else they can't play so soon in the fall. This is just a CYA for the decision makers to look like they care about the athletes while trying to get the fans onboard with a postponed season instead of a cancelled season and hoping to kick the can down the road.

RE: Big 10 Conference News
I'd like to see Nebraska play football this season. It doesn't have to be as a temporary member of the Big 12 (and I don't think they are going to leave or get kicked out of the Big Ten) but getting 10 games or so as an independent would be fun. I don't know if Iowa would want to play despite (allegedly) voting in favor of playing because they have made so much less noise about it than Nebraska. This is very fascinating to watch, even if there is a potential civil war brewing in the conference.

More off topic info. I really don't think it's that far off topic though, all conferences affect others in some form.

And more "off topic" friction.

Basically, they're expecting that a normal football season won't return until Fall 2022 at the earliest. So conference-only games (if any games at all) for the whole of next year.

Correct, his theory, and it's accurate, is that you can't have a spring season and then a full fall season. I don't know if spring play will happen or not? I'm hopeful, but the leadership of this conference recently has been very poor.

Some football is better than no football, even if an 8 or 10 game conference only schedule.

How will not playing in 2020 effect recruits?

Maybe more importantly, how will not playing in 2020 effect expansion candidates, especially when they will all be playing? Texas, Oklahoma, and Notre Dame specifically.

Time will tell, but if others play this fall and BIG schools don't, it will be a major hit all the way around. I think everybody is waiting until there is an absolute "yes" from the three conferences pushing on. They are still skeptical in their verbiage at times and I think everybody from recruits on up are waiting until it all plays out.

Short answer, who knows?

04-cheers

This is very interesting. I guess I take his word for it, but this is hard for me to believe.

RE: Big 10 Conference News
Another of a growing list..
I post these links and tweets to be informative. I have my own personal feelings on things, yet, I will post info Regardless of if it aligns with my thinking or not.
Quote:Angry and disappointed Michigan football parents have galvanized and written a strongly worded letter to Big Ten commissioner Kevin Warren and University of Michigan president Mark Schlissel demanding a reversal of the cancellation of the 2020 football season.
Quote:That is the final of five requests from the Michigan parents, who also want video meetings with Warren and Schlissel to discuss the vote and rationale behind the decision to cancel. Warren said the decision ultimately was about the health and well-being of the athletes in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

It is time past time for Mr. Warren to speak!

So if there was no vote, how does a 12-2 vote get leaked (or 8-6)? Everyone is in CYA mode and Nebraska is the only one anyone can realistically say was in the "2". Everyone else wants their fans/boosters/student athletes to think they were in the "2" but it can only be one more, if we even assume the "2" is legitimate.

I mean, there's nothing wrong with wanting answers, is there?

If student-athletes are the priority, like they say...
Student-athletes have asked repeatedly and now they are demanding answers. The how, when and why answers that they all deserve.
