Hopson out?
Lots of chatter making the rounds tonight, but no definitive confirmation yet.
If so, we obviously promote an interim during the bye week and hope he can at least stop the free fall over the remainder of the season. Best case, he earns the permanent gig. Worst case, we have 4-5 months to get our ducks in a row to get somebody else.

RE: Hopson out?
South Alabama had lost 15 road games in a row. Then they come to "The Rock" to play Southern Miss with Jay Hopson at the helm and 4 seasons under his belt...and walk away with an easy win. I really would like to see him out, but I have my doubts. The main reason being financial. I'm sure we'd have to pay him his full salary if he were given his walking papers, and we play no money game this year to supplement that. However, if the season continues with the same pathetic results, I could see him getting the boot towards the end of the season.
One potential positive in searching for a new coach is with the Big 10, Pac 10, MWC, and MAC all idle this season, perhaps that would be a good hunting ground for a charismatic (think Fedora- important for recruiting) and talented new head coach.

I’ve heard for two days that hopson is gone. I don’t know if or when he’s out but at the very least he’s out at the end of the year.

A 10 a.m. Tweet stated that per the TTT Talk guys, Hopson had already met with the assistants and was meeting with the team at that time. That’s the last somewhat credible public report I’ve seen.

Feel like if it weren’t happening, McClain would have made a statement

Brett McMurphy has Tweeted it’s done. Hopson has resigned.
