RE: Rating the AAC
Well here we are at the end of regular play during a Covid tainted season. The old adage that Defense Wins Championships certainly seems to have played out.
1. Cincinnati - they have it all
2. Tulsa - really tough when their QB is on
The next group is harder to call.
3-5. SMU, Memphis, UCF. SMU beat Memphis by last minute field goal, Memphis beat Houston by last minute field goal, UCF lost to Memphis by missing a last minute field goal. SMU and UCF didn't play each other. None had a defense that stopped each other for long. All won their OOC games.
6-7. Houston and Tulane. They can make a case for being rated in the above group.
8. ECU came on late and took down SMU and effectively, Tulsa.
9-11. Navy, Temple and USF showed very little. Work to be done for next season.

We have a true freshman QB, tell me we still lose those games we were 99% likely to win against Tulsa & Navy and that we still lose SMU in Ot. Besides Cinci and UCF I feel good about playing anyone in conference.

what?? 3rd? Is this ranking this year or next year?

If we're talking about right this second instead of total season accomplishment, I'd go with:

UC

Tulsa
UCF

Tulane
ECU
Memphis
SMU
UH
Navy

USF
Temple

Two things:

1) I'd put Memphis over ECU

2) I agree that Temple was ravaged with injuries and positives, and hamstrung by Philly COVID protocols. With a 1-8 record and zero wins in conference, however, USF is the flagship.

This season was so disappointing, I wasn’t going to debate this. Thanks for stepping up.

The margins between 2 and 9 this year were laughably small. Parity is going to ruin our NY6 bid one day...

Navy(3-7) better than Tulane(6-5) is delusional. Yes Navy beat Tulane. Tulane beat Memphis much more convincingly than Navy beat Tulane does that mean Tulane is better than Memphis? Navy lost to Army pathetically. Tulane stomped Army. Navy lost to Memphis. Tulane beat Memphis. The only other thing Navy has going for it is their conference record is 3-4, Tulane's is 3-5, the schedule difference is Tulane had to play at UCF.

This is not a good Navy team. I am sure you know that. The Tulane fan base is still raw about the loss this year. If yall would have beat USAFA and played a competitive game vs BYU and beat Army then it would feel bad. Tulane has lost to good Navy teams a bunch recently so respect, but this year just stings we are actually a decent to good team.
