The league has plenty of assets, but in a world where more realignment may be coming, where does the CAA go from here?

I could easily see the Northern football only schools all leaving. America East could become the latest version of the old Yankee Conf. The four full members plus URI, Villanova and fill the footprint with a couple of Monmouth, Fordham or MEAC schools.

If JMU does move to an FBS conference, does the CAA fall apart? And if so, would Elon go back to the SoCon? What if W&M and UR football also go back to SoCon? If the publics leave the SoCon, would that make the SoCon more attractive than the CAA?

Elon should be in the SoCon! They are a southern team. They have to travel as far as Maine for CAA games They are in North Carolina and should play teams in the south. But the problem is Elon wants to be a Ivy League school. Maybe they will join that league because god knows their not big on their football program anyways.

E-loan burned that bridge on the way out to the CAA. They will NEVER be in the SoCon again, nor would they want to be...

RE: A conference at a crossroads. Where does the CAA go from here?
Football is the biggest attraction the CAA has in recognition today to attract new members and needs to use that as a tool to rebuild our MBB reputation.

Richmond, Elon plus W&M have been left out on an island for football along with UNCW, CoC, Elon and W&M for all sports. For the CAA to survive it needs two divisions.

While doing this the CAA needs to rebuild its MBB reputation by adding good MBB teams to join like Vermont if we setup a North Division plus 2-3 Southern schools from this list:

Furman
Wofford
ETSU
UNCG
Winthrop
