Here’s the most recent news account I found on Briles:
https://www.star-telegram.com/sports/spt...9705.htmlM
While the article is defensive of Briles, it also says the NCAA investigation now won’t be wrapped up until some time next year, so...yeah, don’t hold your breath waiting for Briles’ return to FBS.

Freeze is being a bit too successful at Liberty, I’m afraid.

What was the ONLY Game played on December 24th?
Yes, Southern Miss WINS, Southern Miss WINS, Southern Miss WINS!!! I dreamt of us going to a bowl in Hawaii from outside a COLD Senior Bowl in 1981...warm weather, historic location, great bowl, over 32,000 in attendance. Thank a lot fellow fans for NOTHING!!!

I will never forget the announcers that night. "Southern Miss just does not look like it wants to be here." You're correct, they don't.

Jokes aside, you’re honestly not far off. It was Houston who beat Penn State but nobody noticed because all anybody talked about whenever the game came up was what Penn State was dealing with and had coming in the wake of their decades-long support of a child molester.
Also, everybody saying “we’d have had 25,000 people in Dallas” when we barely cracked 30,000 all season in Hattiesburg is lying to themselves.

You'd be surprised how many people will show up for a game against a Top 20 Penn State in a drivable distance after just winning the CUSA Championship against the #5 team in the country. I don't think we bring 25k, but we bring a pretty hefty amount of that.

We might have a shot to get Malzahn by the end of the season. They still have to play A&M and Alabama. I think he needs to win one of those to keep his job.

Ive been keeping eye on the Malzahn situation too with the thought of him coming here if fired. Id take him. Im sure Auburn is salivating to get Freeze. Prob had more success against Saban than anyone.

I just can't see us going Defensive. I think that would be the absolute nail in the coffin.

I agree - most fans will have a lot more patience if there is a fun offense to watch, even if we lose because of a bad defense vs. the patience of watching a great defense but losing due to an embarrassing offense. Unless of course that great defense is so awesome they score enough that we don't even need an offense. If only, maybe and hopefully....

I haven't heard anything new. Our dominos will fall late December after more major players have made their moves. No one wants to commit to us when they have the potential to go to Auburn, South Carolina, or others.

Is this your opinion or what you have been told from a reliable source?
If we wait until late December, it will be one of the worst decisions ever made at USM. I cant imagine Jeremy waiting that long and allowing every other team in the Nation to select their coach and we get the leftovers no one wanted.

That's what I've heard from a fairly good source. We've interviewed a lot of coaches and have a list of those we'd like, but they aren't willing to commit until bigger players make decisions.

Remember how quick the NCAA wrapped up the Albert Means-Alabama investigation? Like six weeks to determine there was nothing there only for the IRS to prove otherwise a year later.
F the NCAA. Would be the biggest win in USM history to get Briles even if it was only a couple or three years. He could win this conference the first year even with the talent we have now.
