Hunter Gregory, Andy Garriola, Noah Dean, and Sam Armstrong have had strong starts to the season in the minors. Gregory is in his first year of AA ball.

I know no Monarchs will be drafted this year, but I wonder if any will sign as UDFAs.
Even looks like Ali Jennings will be a UDFA

Is Jennings not sticking around for his final year at VT?

According to Hokie friends at work, the belief was he's coming back since he was hurt all last season.

Read an article a month or two ago assessing his draftability. I just assumed they were talking about this years draft, so could be he's not in the mix this year.
It would make sense to get in another year at the college level.

It's gonna be interesting to see what happens to Heinicke now that ATL drafted Penix.
Side note on NFL draft:
A lot of QBs taken in 1st round, and I'm not sure I see any certain future Pro Bowlers in the bunch. I guess that because of the sheer numbers that somebody has to emerge but I can't pick the most likely to rise to the top. (Obviously the team has a lot to do with it too).

Was thinking about that this morning. Will he be comfortable as the #3 guy? WSill they even keep a 3rd stringer on the roster? We'll see how it plays out but I hope he can land somewhere as a backup

I think Penix will be #3 for this year. Take a year for the weight room and learning the playbook and ride out Heinicke's contract and Penix will be #2 next year.

No chance Heinicke sticks in Atl. They arent keeping a first round pick as the number 3 QB

No, TH has done all he can to stick with ATL, including taking a pay cut. I think we're near the end of an amazing road. Next up: Asst coach at Tenn Tech. Ol' Bobby won't forget him.

He doesn't have that kind of leverage to demand being traded; he may be dealt but but won't be because he demanded it.

I just thought of this, and its stupid really, but with the transfer portal/NIL and all this moving around of players, when a former ODU guys plays in the NFL and he announces his college during the starting lineup, assuming he is in said lineup, that player will probably say the higher profile school that he played for. This will give ODU less visibility. I know its kind of silly, but things like that matter for G5 schools. Or at least I think they might matter.

Ya, like Blake Watson will say Memphis. But he's quoted as saying he was prepared to be a UDFA at his old school and went to Memphis to get drafted, but ended up a UDFA. Since 2019 ODU has had 5 draft picks and Memphis 8. Might have put up better number and got a higher draft stock with ODU. Oh well. Good luck to him!
