Tulsa's Bunting Earns Freshman All-America Honors
Freshman linebacker gets another award

Dallas, Texas - The University of Tulsa true freshman linebacker Nick Bunting (Tulsa, Okla.) was named to the CollegeFootballNews.com Freshman All-America second team.

Bunting, a 6'1", 205-pound true freshman, completed the regular season with 74 tackles, 6.5 stops for -21 yards and three sacks for -14 yards. He also intercepted two passes, including returning one for a touchdown. Bunting was named the Western Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year and was also named to the league's first-team as selected by the WAC coaches.

The first-team Freshman All-America selections at linebacker included Virginia's Ahman Brooks, Florida's Channing Crowder and North Carolina's Larry Edwards.

He deserves it, he just throws his body all over to make a tackle. If I made some of the tackles he made, I would be in the hospital for a month or six feet under. He's wild man and I'm glad he's on our team!!!!

This was a great signing for TU - definately a diamond in the rough, and seems he got pretty polished up in his first year!

It is big for him!! It puts him on the radar for future recognition, such as some form of All-American honors in his jr and sr years. 04-bow It takes this kind of recognition early in your career for a non-BCS player to get known!!!!!
