In other words, Biden* isnt Trump, and isnt going to be able to force Canada, Mexico, and CHina into fair agriculture trade, so the farmers are going to get screwed and will need subsidies, and now will have to give up the rights to their land if they want it.

SO......MUCH.........LOSING

Well Trump wasn't going to be able to do that anyway. 07-coffee3

yea, not like he got it ratified a year ago.....dumb***

Carbon farming isn't new. Canada has been heavily subsidizing it since 2014. Several states have had programs in place to support farmers for collecting carbon into their soil.

I've been trying to talk my father-in-law into converting his 80 acres (corn and soy) into a carbon farm. He's pushing 80 now and can't farm his own land anymore so he rents it out to others to farm for a fee. He's a hardcore Republican in a very red county in Illinois, but money talks. If he thinks his farm can make more money collecting carbon than growing crops, he'd do it in a heartbeat.

Farmers are used to collecting money from the government in bad crop years. Or to not grow crops if there are surpluses. What's the big deal about having some of them switch over to carbon farming? It's no different than farms that are using their land for wind power.

Completely fabricated my ass.

The CCC (Commodity Credit Corp) has traditionally been there to supplement farm income, price supports, and conservation programs on the domestic front. Trump used it to help offset the harm the trade dispute with China was causing famers - a trade dispute that isn't guaranteed to end simply because Quid pro Joe is in office. Even if it did end quickly, farmers are still facing incredibly low commodity prices. The cost of inputs and equipment have skyrocketed, negating much of the revenue gains made by increasing yields. Even large farms operating on multi-million dollar budgets are a just a bad season away from bankruptcy.

Now the underlying question should focus more on the issue of whether or not climate issues, including a "carbon bank" are in teh Agriculture Department's wheelhouse. Is $10 a loaf of bread and $8 a gallon milk, $5 a dozen eggs worth whatever statistically insignificant carbon savings would be made only to have a country like India, China, or Brazil continue increasing their carbon output?

Farmers have enough to worry about. They already get blamed for water pollution, bad smells as neighborhoods encroach, and a **** ton other things. Does anybody with a damned brain think farmers need to have another hoop to jump through getting funds if they need it? Carbon Bank... gimme a fvcking break.

Is 300,000 lost jobs and farmers relying on the government for 40% of their income winning?

You know why farmers supported Trump and the trade war with China despite the pain it caused them? Because farmers are some of the few people that tolerate temporary pain on regular basis and know the short term hardships would be followed by better times.

Biden is cutting one of the few truly necessary safety nets available to farmers. Enjoy your $10 bread and $8 milk.

Yep, stop hunting and buy your meat from the grocery store where they don't kill animals.

I actually heard that said.

One advantage The US has over almost any other country - we are the breadbasket of the world. We would be foolish not to nurture and make sure that advantage remains.

Yes. These fools see valuable farm land blighted with inefficient solar farms that are a giant rip off of the tax payer.
