The world has gone mad.
That's a silly oversimplified argument. Its not like when Dunkin Donuts changed their name to just Dunkin.
Who is freaking out? I'm at a place now where I just point, shake my head and laugh.
But one thing we can agree on (for different reasons), the world has indeed gone mad. What's next, a top world wide corporation telling it's employees to be "less white"?
Ditto. I can only aspire to become as "woke" or as "tough" as Mark. I'm not in Hasbro's target market anyway. I look forward to the time when the re-education camps open so that I can also become enlightened.
You have an odd definition of "woke". Apparently it's "woke" to not being outraged about a private company changing the name of a line of toys.
Private company changing the name of a line of toys as a gateway to re-education camps is quite a take.

Breaking: Hasbro to change name to Has. Previous name evoked misogynism and patriarchy.

What on earth will we do that kids can now make same sex/non binary couples with their potato heads...how will we recover?

Lol. You know that I'm on a different end of the political spectrum from you, but I totally get why these types of comments are made. I don't really care what people want to be identified as, and I work with quite a few trans people who have never made a big deal out of someone accidentally misgendering them. I do make an earnest effort to not mix it up. Luckily, everyone I work with is either he, she, or they. Occasionally the hes and shes aren't who you think they would be, but you get used to it.
I'm all for inclusion, but there are extremes that irk even my (mostly -- I'm centrist and even slightly right on a few issues) liberal heart. I think that's true of all political/societal issues.
The thing I will say that I would get spit-roasted by the extreme left is... not everyone has to fit into a bucket that EXACTLY fits the way they feel. It's okay to be different. The one that kind of gets me is pansexual vs. bisexual. There are other examples, but a lot of that stuff is splitting hairs. But you know what? It doesn't hurt or bother me. So my overall mantra is, live and let live.
I agree with Mark that this is much ado about nothing. I get the virtual signaling stuff in regards to the LBGTQ community, but can we all agree that it's great that we, as a society, are making an effort to make sure our daughters grow up in a world with equal opportunity? Human society has been too patriarchal for far too long. Doesn't mean there's anything wrong with gender roles. I'm a straight dude, and my wife lets me handle the "manly" stuff around the house because I'm a big burly dude and she's slight of frame and not exactly a power lifter. Nothing wrong with that. The extremists will always try to tell you how to live, but don't ever let the extremists speak for the majority. That's something I'm trying to cope with during my near-mid life crisis. Love y'all, regardless of who you vote for. Peace and love.

I am a live and let live person. I still don't understand the changing pronouns...(why does one use the pronoun "they" which is plural to refer to a singular human) but English be damned I guess.
I do have to take issue with the statement "we, as a society, are making an effort to make sure our daughters grow up in a world with equal opportunity?"
The Equality Act passed in the House today...will codify allowing transgendered men to compete in women's athletics. How does that help our daughters grow up in a world of equal opportunity?

My statement is meant to be more broad -- as in, there will always be missteps and steps backwards, but I think every 10 years, we can review women's rights and determine that, on the whole, things have gotten better. I understand what you mean though. The issue of transgender athletes is a very sticky subject. Again, this is an opinion that some of my far-left friends would spit roast me for... but I agree that (at least in a lot of cases) female athletes who are born biologically male have a distinct advantage. Hormone and sex-conversion therapy do wipe away a significant part of their athletic prowess, but it doesn't completely eliminate the clear physical differences.
There's also the argument that, it's so rare that a female transgender athlete is dominant that it doesn't really matter. It does matter though, at least in the spirit of competition. I don't see it being a widespread thing in the near future, but there's no doubt in my mind that transgender female athletes will probably end up taking scholarships away from female-born athletes. I don't think it will be a large number, and I also don't think that the transgender athletes aren't deserving. I believe that some are born transgender, and I don't think that's something they can help/change.
What's the solution? **** if I know. I'm just one of those people who doesn't have to have a definitive opinion on every hot-button issue, and I am open-minded enough to evolve over time. I'm in no way implying that you're not. But I don't plan on running for office, so I don't have to put my foot down. This stuff is complicated. I see no problem with citizens disagreeing as long as we do our best to remain compassionate and empathetic. That is truly what separates man from beast.

I think the fair way to do it is form a transgendered league.
Or make all sports co-ed.
I can’t wait.

Or...Luke, I am your parent.
Obviously that movie will be confusing to future generations of kids...going to have to go back and dub over incorrectly used pronouns that are not inclusive. I really don’t have much outrage, just similar to the Indians not being an acceptable name in today’s world. Changing the names and/or trying to re-write history does not create unity IMHO.
