Lots of WAC teams are down this year. Rice and Nevada look to be pretty good. I picked us third, gambling that we'll gel sooner than Fresno and Hawaii and that SMU won't sustain their play over the whole season.

"Nevada, Rice, SMU, Fresno, and Hawaii will all kill us"
I have seen Nevada and Hawaii play and we can beat both of those teams. Whether we will or not is anyone's guess with this young squad but our talent level is good enough to win these games. Fresno does not look particularly good at this juncture. SMU and Rice will be toughies.
It's really funny, there was a long article in today's Reno Gazette-Journal about the Wolfpack basketball team. When you read the article you could almost substitute Golden Hurricane for Wolfpack and it would fit our team. The Pack is 2-3, just lost two road games they figured they could win, have only one road victory, and are having problems meshing new players with the returning players. Sound familiar? That's one reason I get so sick of reading the "sky is falling" posts because most teams have trouble with team chemistry in the early going.

Three #1 ranked teams have lost so far in this short season. There are several big time teams that have lost by over 20 pts to teams thought to be no better than them. This time of the year is not the time to get excited. This is the time of the year to find the players who CAN and WANT to win!!!! I just want to see a solid starting line up by Jan 1, not one that changes every game or that end up with some of those starters actually only playing 10-15 minutes.!!

I never said we couldn't beat these with our talent.....actually we should........but JP and his staff aren't doing what they get paid to do and our players are playing I-AA ball....We haven't played this bad for 10 years....

How do you figure? Let's look at our losses...
81-73 to #12 OU on the road
72-67 to Georgia State on the road. Picked to win the Atlantic Sun conference this year.
87-81 to ORU on the road. The last time we lost to them, it was the end of the WORLD. We had a HORRIBLE year that year. No, wait... we went to the Elite Eight.
I don't see any blowouts...
Every game, we were in it right at the end and couldn't quite pull it out on the road. This is called growing pains with a young tem. These guys need to learn how to put games away, and tough losses like these are the best way to learn.
We're going to be fine. We won't win 25 games this year, but we'll be fine and set the stage for another good run the next 2-3 years.

Dude, I thought we were much worse last year in the loss to Boise time frame. We still won an NCAA game and should have won two. We'll be fine. This is a bunch of new players, much like the Buzzard year. We will improve over the course of the season and be fine. :chair:

1- What an accomplishment...they are predicted to win the atlantic sun!
2-We lost to ORU in OT or was it 2OT that year?
3-The only games we actually held a good lead in was against OU, NWST., and TCU.........couldn't grasp it against GEORGIA st. and anal roberts!

Look........I'm not calling for Coach's head or anything......I'm just saying the way we have played our last two games would get us a below 5th place in the WAC....
