I agree. But why the change in philosophy? I know you dismissed my theory that we were disguising who we were really targeting.....and that's fine....everyone is entitled to their opinion....but I would love to hear alternative theories.....are we just casting a wider net..........and hoping to strike gold?

RE: 2022 Hoops recruiting
I have a new theory on why our recruiting looks so different this year. What is different about the 2022 recruiting class? They are the first class that can transfer without having to sit out a year. (The 2021 class could, too, but colleges didn't know that at the time they were being recruited.) So when we look at some of our recruits this year they look like longshots, at best, but what happens when Strother or Buchanan sign with Xavier and don't get playing time because they are behind multiple three and four star players. Why not recruit them now and establish a relationship? Tyson was asked if he would have transfered if he had to sit out a year and he said, "almost definatetly not." The world is different now. Some of these longshots are going to be in the Portal next year.

Should be a good get. He had offers from A-10 (GW, St. Joe, Old Dominion), Big East (Depaul) and Big 10 schools (Penn St).

Another theory, per the OU football coach, they are recruiting less HS seniors with more emphasis on transfers. Apply this to BB, and maybe the higher ranked schools are looking more at transfers and less at HS seniors, giving a school like NU more of a chance (though risking a later transfer). The NUs of the world become the development squads for the power schools

I think that coaches at all levels see the advantage of getting transfers over freshmen who can transfer a year later. We sure did this year. You just to have something to offer like being a team that is usually a serious contender for a NCAA bid.
The new rule also DOES mean that we will be in the running for higher rated freshmen especially this year. Recruits must look at the rosters of teams that hit the portal hard and added multiple proven players with two or three years eligibility left and wonder how long they will have to sit.

From Adam Finkelstein...
@AdamFinkelstein
Northeastern went back to the DMV for another good pick-up earlier tonight in @standrewsbball & @TTOBasketball
high-upside wing Masai Troutman.
Makes shots, has physical upside, defensive tools, & some untapped slashing potential IMO.

True. In anr case, when a guy who has been offered by Florida, Indiana, Seton Hall etc says he wants to come to NU it must be hard to say no.

It's clear we have a need for some size. The portal should solve this issue.
