Maybe the original poster suggesting this had some inside knowledge that Oklahoma and Texas were talking with the SEC. Apparently, they (OU and Texas) have been discussing things with the SEC for six months.
It's almost like he has ESP...N
Lol. I am just a random guy with zero connection. My main source is CSNBBS.
But if you think about it, all the clues were out there.
* OU had wanted to leave but decided to stay. Since then the Big 12 didn’t change much but the gap continues to grow.
* Their GOR was never extended while the ACC’s GOR was extended all the way to 2037 or so.
* The ESPN and the Fox declined to engage in an early media deal negotiation. That was a huge red flag.
* A similar historical pattern between the OBE and the Big 12.
* The SEC scored a huge media deal in 2020 while the LHN doesn’t appear to deliver the promised outcome. By the way this is when I dropped the hope of the ACC getting UT as a partial member. UT to the ACC is plausible only if the LHN is sufficiently valuable compared to SEC’s and BIG’s media deal. All of my Random Thoughts posted here are assuming the ACC not getting UT.
What I didn’t know was OU could simply leave OK state in the weakened Big 12. If OU were politically required to make sure OK state remain in a power conference, the ESPN’s calculation/strategy could have been a lot more complex.
