Not big on that idea either. Not sold on Liberty in general, certainly don't want them handling the broadcast of my team.

I never understood why people would refuse to share a conference with Liberty? You do not like them or their beliefs, okay, you are allowed to mass communicate that all you want. However, if this new conference comes about we may need Liberty and their blank checkbook to help get this thing off the ground. I feel they would do a lot more good than harm athletically, which is what all of this is based on.

If this does happen, and UAB doesn’t move anywhere, this would be ideal to me. I’d much prefer staying in the east, although would miss our basketball series with UTEP.

I don't have a problem with their athletic programs, I have a problem with their diploma mill tactics which are abusing the system to rake in federal dollars that they then funnel into athletics.

Understood and I respect your opinion. I agree they have a stigma associated with academics, but I welcome conference mates that will heavily invest into athletics to try and become the best. How they get that money to invest is a totally separate ordeal. I do see your point though.

We've had enough Judy's, it's someone else's turn to take one.

Do you guys (CUSA teams) not produce your own in-house content? Unless it's a linear game, we (GS) produce everything in house and hand off to ESPN to carry it. The exception would be some of the remote commentators last year during COVID.
I thought most teams invested heavily into their fiber and multimedia capabilities years ago.
We do our own, and do a pretty good job for basketball. Multiple camera angles, decent graphics, etc. The radio simulcast is usually synched pretty well. Hoping the new stadium improves our football production. The production for those games was pretty rough.

Liberty's broadcasts are a step above as far as production from anything I've seen in CUSA, including our own.

They have way too much money. It will soon become "Liberty's Conference". Similar to how the B12 had all of those defections because of Texas.

We let the west keep the name CUSA, rebrand as a new conference and tada Judy stays were she is. This would be ideal even over joining the leftover AAC, there you would still have to put up most likely Tulsa, Tulane and SMU.
I would love a conference where everyone was actually east of the Mississippi.
Also I have no attachment to the Florida Twins and I don't know which way Coach Huff thinks. I know Doc just liked Florida schools because he thought it would be an easier sell. For me they can stay or go, doesn't really matter.

I feel exactly the same way. Id rather have a new conference with a new name, and most of all a new commissioner. Start from scratch with no leftover CUSA baggage. With the right person in charge and some innovative thinking and branding, we'd be fine. Im good with or without the FUs too. Id rather keep UAB, and maybe just FAU, but if they both come too... so be it.

12 is the right number...if you two would oblige by resigning your membership, the remaining dozen would be grateful. Good luck in all of your future endeavors.

Now on to the real speculation, what would an eastern split brand themselves as? The Eastern Athletic Conference (EAC)? The acronym doesn't really roll off the tongue and I am sure someone else owns the rights to it. Southeast Athletic Association (SAA)? South Central Conference (SCC)? I kinda like it. The Don't Be a Menance to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood memes would be golden.

I was thinking the Conference of Champions (a. because the acronym is funny and I am immature, b. because Bill Walton would continue to say it all the time).

I don't mind a split. I would hate to lose games against UAB and Southern Miss. I hate UAB but Tech-UAB is a good matchup in most sports. Rivalry in Dixie is a wonderful rivalry and I want to keep it going. At this point with all that is going on, we are gonna see some strange bedfellows after it all shakes out.
