Well they have 45 Blackhawks. As soon as they finish the Youtube video on how to fly the things, they will start using those. Mortars are so 1970s. They can cause some real damage with all of the US weaponry they have now.

Serious question - the US has been telling its citizens to leave Afghanistan for MONTHS - the state department & embassy told them to leave, warned them to leave, and in some instances even offered to pay for them to leave...and yet they didn't. Someone actually traveled TO Afghanistan in the past several weeks to visit family.

While it's extremely tragic that these people did not choose to follow the warnings, at what point are you "personal responsibility" types able to admit that those remaining have simply chosen not to leave until things became so dire that now it's becoming a problem to get them out?

It's like not heeding evacuation orders when a hurricane is coming, instead choosing to "ride it out." Certainly we should do all we can to get everyone out, but they cannot guarantee anyone's safety after a certain point of choosing not to go when they were told to.
