New athletic center/practice facility.

Big East seems to be the only clear upgrade over the A-10. The American would have made more sense with Cincinnati still in the conference, although Tulsa and Wichita State are still there.

It can't be a Big East invitation as league presidents have not voted on it - unless of course they are announcing an application to the Big East, which would have already been unofficially approved by league membership.

Oof. This is probably something like an NIL consultant available to all athletes, which in a vacuum is a good thing for the school to do for their athletes, but it's exceptionally poor timing in light of Val's comments this week. Whatever it is is nearly sure to be viewed as a major let-down. No way Big East expansion's already been voted on in secrecy, and if it had the announcement would be by the conference basically immediately, not by the school a week out.

EDIT: Creeping the Saint Louis board, it appears that this is expected to be a facilities upgrade project.

All of their major facilities are already very new, so I doubt its anything facilities related.
Its being billed a major announcement, so it better be something major and not a tease.

It could simply be a major gift.

Other than NIL, I think a training facility would be a nice add.

Another possibility: an upgrade to Chaifetz Arena. It's 13 years old now.

Apparently, it is a facilities upgrade of some kind. Even if it is not a BE invite, SLU continues to position itself as a strong candidate for expansion. They're doing all they should be doing in attempt to make itself as attractive as possible for whenever that phone call comes.

I will say this: If the Big East added Saint Louis U. solely because SLU is located in the city home to Fitz's Root Beer and Ted Drewes Frozen Custard ... well, good for the BE.

I've enjoyed both at the "home facilities." Strong. My sister-in-law attended Wash U. in St. Louis. She loves them both.

Hey maybe they’ll start a football team now that the Rams are gone and join the AAC.

If the AAC added St Louis as a full member without football, and added UAB and one other for full membership, they would likely remain the best G5 conference.

NIL deal or accepting invite to MVC.
