Why would you take UMass for football only?

Yeah that makes no sense at all.

CUSA in a lot of trouble. I bet ESPN talking big with Sun Belt right now on them expanding. Could easily see 2 teams added pretty quickly. FIU and La Tech?

Hell yeah! 15-20 years from now they could be good! Meanwhile for the next decade the TV deal probably just went down to like 2 million per school.

I don't think it's going to take that long even realistically. Those 2 will be programs that get an immediate boost. Also North Texas I think.

Oh no, they for sure get an immediate boost, while the AAC makes what was already going to be a financial haircut into a financial head shaving.

Two thoughts, other than baseball what has ECU brought to the party since they have been in the AAC?, and the financial hit was because the AAC lost Cincy/UCF/Houston, more than the teams coming in to shore it up. Too bad ECU couldn't balance the books with $7 million/yr in TV money, because you probably are screwed now.

Other than that I look forward to playing the Pirates in everything.

Don’t get this at all for the AAC. Why go so hard on Texas? And 14 teams? No room for future expansion. Basketball quality also goes out the window.

totally eliminates Texas as an option for the MWC. All that is left is Texas St and UTEP.

Maybe that is the point. To hurt both the MW and C-USA.

Cutting off your nose to spite your face?

I don't see this ending well.

And why would SMU go for this?

Maybe SMU is going to the Big 12?

Yeah, definitely makes the AAC the top dog in G5.

I don't know, the Sun Belt could make a case for this if they expand by 4 with Marshall, James Madison, Western Kentucky, and Southern Miss.

The Sun Belt already has Louisiana (Lafayette) and Louisiana Monroe. I'd go for Old Dominion in Virginia or Middle Tennessee over La. Tech.

The same reason SMU would accept North Tx. I don't know....

Protection. They're at 8 schools, they lose one more...

I'd expect C-USA raids the Sun Belt, because there's some good programs left in C-USA, but honestly... if the Sun Belt schools can band together...

It's just mess because common sense dictates "The Sun Belt wins if they stay united." But there's no chance they stay united when Coastal, App State and Georgia State are comparing long-term data sets of performance and markets.

The Sun Belt needs to be on the phone with Marshall and ODU right now.

If CUSA can pull any SBC schools after these 6 leave, big props to them. I don’t see why the SBC teams would do that.

About to say kind of surprised to see SMU cool with UNT in the league (unless they’ve got their eyes somewhere else)

Imagine losing three powerhouses like Cincy, UCF, and Houston, just to backfill with the likes of Charlotte, UNT, and Rice.

Oof. That hurts.

I wonder what Temple is thinking right now. None of these schools move the needle in basketball. They are diluting the number of times Temple gets to play the likes of Memphis, Wichita State, SMU, Tulsa.

Also: Temple is voting in favor of this? Six new members, and the farthest north among them is Charlotte.

If Memphis gets a Big XII AND Navy goes back to Indy status you would still have 12 FB schools. If only one of those two leaves you can still pick up FAU, ODU, or Marshall to get back to 14.
