Meh! Medical advancements are happening every day, when they can transplant a basketball program into ECU that will be an achievement.

Men are pigs, so that shouldn't be hard. When they can pull off a pig to Woman, now that will be a huge achievement.

Just saw this but with pig heart the other day.

Yes… it will be 50% man, 50% bear and 50% pig

UAB is a step behind. Liver/Kidney txp's have been done. UMaryland just did a pig heart to human xenograft.

At first glance, I thought this was probably a weak attempt at humor or a National Enquirer type of headline.

However, I lost a close friend to kidney failure last year, and my ex- had a very dear friend in his 30's who died of kidney failure.

The problem is that there aren't nearly enough kidneys to go around, and so thousands and thousands of people die every year.

Many of those who live have an awful quality of life, because they have to spend a huge part of their life having kidney dialysis treatments.

So if it's possible to not only save tens or hundreds of thousands of lives, but to make it possible for people who have kidney failure to live normal lives without dialysis, it is absolutely wonderful.

This breakthrough by UAB physicians could save as many or more lives than are saved by heart transplants.

It's wonderful news! Kudos, UAB.
