Two commits before summer camp season picks up is right in line with a typical year for us, especially considering we're punching up for all of our recruits now. In Top 3-5s for A LOT of kids right now too which is a good sign. I like that both of these kids are above the recruit average for our best class in history, and the offer list for Daniel James is very good too.
Hello Bearcat ...funny meeting you here. I follow UC recruiting as well. As you know I follow recruiting UT recruiting very very closely. Like to follow all recruiting.
The switch to Big 12 and its perceived bounce for UC recruiting will be interesting for me to monitor. I'm not sold on the HC hire (SS is a former UT assistant) but he had UL headed in right direction in 2nd half of '22. Will move to Big 12 offset big loss of Fickell???? HC Satterfield is a tireless worker and I suspect he will prove out to be a good hire. His hire surprised me to be honest. Lot's of great QB's in Ohio for '24. UC and UT will likely pull 2 for this class. Have a great recruiting year.

Gavin Grover, high 3* TE from Olengtangy HS just north of Columbus commits and based on tweets from the staff we aren't done for the day. Grover selected us over West Virginia and Kentucky in a Final 3.

I think we'll take a recruiting victory over UK and WV any day of the week. Would Fickell have nabbed him with UC in the American? Who knows, but while winning some recruiting battles against teams from the SEC and B12 happened under the previous coaching staff, we have to believe this will become the new normal. Congratulations to Coach Satterfield and his staff as they begin the harvest.

Verrrrrry Tre Tucker-y. And in an outside zone scheme with tons of WR motion, he will find a good place in the offense.
Supposedly one more coming based on tweets from the staff. With these 2 today, our class would be sitting at #2 in the Big 12 so far.

I think Evan Prater is ranked higher by composite, but Birdsong would be the highest ranked defender by a fairly substantial margin.
And people were worried about Satterfield recruiting...

It's early. But his staff seems HUNGRY. Love that about them. Hope it shows on the field this fall

Yep...that's the big question mark still. These guys have certainly answered the recruiting question though.

My take on recruiting is generally a little different and I don't fully judge for a few years. Once you get past those 5 star guys variance seems to go up exponentially. Getting better stars / ratings is a great sign but ability to find fit and develop in your system is even more important. The last staff was great at that. It's why we have created so many nfl guys despite not having elite ratings.
Recruiting is encouraging. Certainly it shouldn't be a concern at this point. But time will tell how good it is

Interesting that 3 of our first 5 recruits this cycle are from Georgia.

Lots of contacts in the SE in this staff, and Georgia has far more (and better) talent than the midwest at this point. I'm happy with that development...and it isn't done yet.
Simeon Coleman, a 3* LB from Maryland with offers from Florida State, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Michigan State, Pitt, BC, Auburn, Louisville, Maryland, and Georgia Tech has picked up a Cincinnati crystal ball recently.

I remember during the Tuberville years an assistant once commented to a group of us that UC’s brand is pretty strong in Georgia. We’ve actually recruited the Peach State fairly well since the Minter years.

There are a ton of families in Ohio who emigrated from the Jim Crow laws of the Southeast and still carry family ties down south or have since moved back. Plus, the color scheme works out pretty well lol. I think Ridder being successful would further increase the Cincinnati presence down there.

Not ranked yet but another speedster/track guy.
Offers from Penn State, Virginia Tech, Indiana, Wake Forest + 13 other G5 schools.
That’s all I have.
That list of offers is all I need to know about him. God love the recruiting sites for taking the time to rate and rank players and while there is certainly a correlation between rating and quality of schools offering a kid but the fact that UC beat out those four schools for Woodburn is encouraging regardless of whatever rating he's assigned. It's also still relatively early in the cycle so it's possible he picks up additional offers over the course of the summer and fall.
