UC-Santa Cruz buys SJ State and UC-Merced buys Fresno State. Long Beach State restarts football and sells it to UC-Irvine.

Yeah, premise is dumb. You can't buy a program from someone else. Can UCSD usurp SDSU? Maybe. But they can't switch places.

Academic people would love not to have sports - so the most realistic part of this is that a school would sell its athletic department. I'm sure Cal would love to sell its sports teams for a few 100 million!
