Looks like they're on their back up QB for the game as McCall is out 3-6 weeks..
On the flip side, USM hasn't announced a starting QB yet for Saturday.
How we feeling?

RE: CCU
I have to believe after last week we're going to play better this Saturday, at least on defense. We know they're capable of it. Offense still looks like a mess.
I don't know anything about CCU other than their QB is pretty good (I'm assuming the rest of the team aren't slouches either) but from what I gather he's the centerpiece of the offense, so we get somewhat of a break. Now a game that looked like lock for them seems winnable if we don't (broken record) turn the ball over and the offense gets some production.
Give whoever starts a couple of series and if they can't get it going get the next guy up.

I wonder if we'll see a mixture of Wilcke, Lowe, and SB..
Let Wilcke go out for a couple of plays, if he's not settled, bring in Lowe... Lowe looked calm and efficient at running the offense, for whatever reason he got benched after on throw against Liberty..
I'm not a fan of going straight SB, but I think it adds a dynamic to the offense.
But until we get the run game figured out, it should be used sparingly...
Our offense is improved from last season, I think we can agree.. But we're not where we need to be or should be. The QB whisperer needs to keep working.

RE: CCU
Last week was a pathetic train wreck of a game. I didn't think this team was capable of performing so badly. I'm hoping that the team is so pissed off about their performance last week that they come out with a vengeance on Saturday. It's supposed to be sunny with temps in the 70s so the weather can't be blamed.
I'm hoping they go with Trey Lowe. I felt very positive about Wilcke early in the season. I figured after getting a few games under his belt he would begin to emerge as a very talented QB. That's never happened. He had the credentials coming out of high school, but he seems to constantly struggle.
I don't know if Lowe is the answer, but I believe it's worth a try. It would make for a good rags to riches story. The transfer from West Virginia who was relegated to being the 4th string QB at the start of the year and all but forgotten, comes in on game 10 and leads USM to victory over 8-1 Coastal Carolina. Southern Miss then rides the wave and with Lowe at the helm takes them to victories over S. Alabama and Louisiana-Monroe. The Southern Miss football team goes bowl bound with an 8-4 record and wins finishing 9-4. And Trey Lowe, as a redshirt senior, goes into 2023 as the unquestioned starting QB and leads them to a conference championship and a stunning win over Mississippi State. I realize it's a pipe dream but you never know. It's also possible that the team comes out tomorrow and gets flattened by Coastal Carolina. I'll just hope for the best.

Lowe told me himself that he is finished after this year.

So what has been the deal with him?
I've heard everything from being in the doghouse for poor work ethic to recovering from injury.
We don't have a lot of good options and I'd like to give him a chance, if it's that easy that is.

Maybe he was doing whatever it is that Richard must have been doing; another MIA.

RE: CCU
I was very impressed with Trey Lowe's performance. And I'll admit that I'm one of those wondering why he hasn't been the starting QB from the very beginning. In his first meaningful performance he threw 19-37 with no interceptions and a TD. He looked poised in the pocket and his passes were generally accurate with a great spiral on them. A few of the incomplete passes were very catchable. I heard the same thing about his case either being injury or in the doghouse. I can't believe it's injury as he was sent into the Liberty game and again in the Northwestern State game early in the year. I trust Will Hall is starting him tomorrow
I believe any team in this conference is capable of beating another one on any given day. But with that said, I think it'll be really tough to get a win in these last two games. South Alabama is one of the best teams in the conference. Our last game is against Louisiana-Monroe. I imagine a lot of you noticed that last weekend they traveled to Atlanta to play Georgia State...and won. Read into that what you will.
